K.A. Tucker has done it again! This book was so incredibly amazing! I have to say, I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this book because we didn't really get to see Cain in the previous two books, being the closed-off mysterious person he was. But once I did get to know him, I was hooked! And his story was exceptionally interesting.
Cain was a fighter. Always has been in, and is some ways, always will be. As a teenager, he did a lot of underground fighting for money. Lots and lots of money. It's how he was able to open up clubs at such an early age. But his story was definitely a tragic one. He lost his sister and parents, all of whom were involved with drugs and sex, at the age of 19. All of his life, Cain was surrounded by bad things and yet, he turned to be an amazing man. It's kind of why I fell hard for him. Cain found out his sister would sell her body for money and this pissed him off beyond manner. What pissed him off even more? His own mom didn't try to stop it, probably encouraged it. So when he lost his sister, you can imagine the heartbreak and guilt Cain went through, knowing he did nothing to stop it. This is why Cain is so intent on keeping girls caught up in these situations safe, because he can't bear to see it happen. The way he runs his clubs are very professional. He doesn't interact with his staff. It's all business. When a girl named Penny comes into his club, all rules are thrown away and he finds himself falling for her. And when Cain lost Penny, it broke my heart. He'd already been through so much. So when a girl named Charlie comes into his new club, he's taken aback. Why? Because she is just like Penny. Looks, personality, you name it and once again, he's hooked. But this time, his feelings are so much stronger.
"If Penny’s death did anything, it stopped me from ever getting distracted from my purpose in this business. It sure as hell isn’t love. Here I was, thinking I had put that tragedy behind me and moved on. Until tonight, a Penny lookalike walks in and blows my recovery to smithereens."
Charlie was a great heroine. Her story was really sad as well and different. I've never read anything like it. Charlie had a mom that was all about looks. She also worked at a strip club. She left to marry Charlie's dad, Sam, even though Charlie's grandma protested. Charlie's mom died during childbirth and so did the baby. Charlie was taken under Sam's wing, given presents and a really good life. Or so she thought. Turns out, when she got older, she learned that her dad was a drug dealer. The best there is. And soon, he lured Charlie into his schemes, making her do the dirty work and trafficking heroine all over the place. She had no choice but to go along with it because the thing about Sam is, you don't mess with him. Even if you are his daughter. When suspicions about Charlie arise, Sam makes her a fake ID and sends her off to Miami. Her fake name is Charlie Rourke. Yup, that's not her name. You;ll find out her real identity later on in the book. It's mind-blowing! Anyways, Charlie wants to be able to do something while making money in her time in Miami. So when she see's the fluorescent lights of Penny's, she goes for a job. Because of all the drug business she's in, Charlie thinks she deserves working in a strip club. Bad things should happen to bad people. The plan is simple: make money in a strip club and deserve everything that comes in your way. Although, nothing is ever that easy. Especially when she gets a look at her boss.
"She certainly left out details about his physical appearance, I realize, as my gaze skates over his frame to see the well-defined curves beneath a fitted button-down black dress shirt and black dress pants. As if that body isn’t enough, his face is flawless—angular cheekbones and a sharp jaw combine to give him a masculine yet almost pretty look. He’s like a sculpture—and about as opposite to Sin City Rick as you can get. Basically, Cain is panty-dropping hot. That your boss is panty-dropping hot is an odd thing to leave out of the equation. Cain’s the type of guy that makes women lose their words and their train of thought when he walks by."
My favourite thing about this book was that Cain is always there to watch charlie dance. He never does that for any of his dancers. Ever. Except he can't help it and Charlie can't help teasing him because she knows this.
"I think Charlie just winked at me. I shouldn’t be enjoying this but I can’t help myself. I am. Too much. I need to stop coming out here when Charlie dances.
Their story had bazillions of ups and downs, given their pasts. But it was so alluring and entertaining and HOT. Cain can be quite the alpha when he wants too. And at the same time, he can be the sweet, caring, gentleman we got glimpses of from the previous two installments. Cain was intent on chasing Charlie before he lost his chance again. Charlie did nothing but run away because she didn't want to put Cain in danger. When you have someone like Sam for a dad, there's no room for other people in your life. Though, you can only run away from your feeling for so long before the tension builds up. And boy, did it ever! Their time together was intense. That all I'm telling you.
"Whenever I look at her, a hot burn fills my chest. I don’t know how I ever lasted a day without Charlie. Both work-wise and life-wise, I’ve never spent this much time with another human being. Not even Nate, who lived with me for several years. I don’t even mind coming into Penny’s anymore. The place feels different. It’s not just me anymore. Now I have Charlie at my side. And those knots in my shoulders that never go away? Fucking gone. Like magic. Charlie magic."
This was generally a sad story. You'll find yourself feeling bad for both these characters a lot and just wishing their pasts would leave them and let them be. Their HEA was so incredibly sweet! I'm happy to say it worked out really well for these two! And the deserved all of it, honestly. On a side note, I'm am so psyched for Ben's story. He was one of my favourite characters. He had me laughing aloud and kept the book a little light, which it so desperately needed. I can't wait to see this flirt settle down, haha! All in all, fantastic read that I highly recommend. It will not disappoint! This book had so much depth and meaning and it was just...amazing. The concept was new, the characters were ideal, the story line was original and refreshing, this entire book deserves a category of it's own. When you decide to read it, It'll set the standard for book pretty high. Now go on and read it, before I do it for you!
“I believe some people are inherently evil. I believe guilt is a powerful motivator. I believe redemption is something you can strive for but never fully achieve. I believe second chances exist only in dreams, never in reality. I believe you don't have years, or months, or weeks to impact a person's life. You have seconds. Seconds to win them over, And seconds to lose them.”

Teaser #1: Charlie's POV!
He’s just standing there, boring holes into my face. Given I’ve never laid eyes on him before, I don’t know what his normal complexion looks like but I’ll bet it’s not the sickly white pallor that I see now. Like he’s seen a ghost. I try to catch Ginger’s eye, to see if she thinks his reaction is strange, but I can’t.
“Sorry…I knocked but you didn’t answer,” she offers in apology. It’s true, she did knock and we waited for close to a minute before entering. I don’t know what he was doing in his office—behind the closed door with a sign that reads “boss man” and pair of lacy underwear pinned to it—but, by the stunned look on his face, we’ve interrupted something. A glance down confirms that his belt is at least buckled.
“This is my friend, Charlie, who I told you about.” Ginger’s long, slender fingers point to me and I force a bright smile. “Friend” sounds a bit misleading, seeing as everything I’ve ever told Ginger about me is a deliberate lie.
I only met her three weeks ago. Her beginner pole dancing class was just finishing up and she stayed on to watch the advanced class. I guess I impressed her because she sat through the entire hour and then talked my ear off in the change room after about how good I am. I took her proffered number with no intentions to call. The next week, Ginger cornered me after class and wouldn’t leave until I went out to lunch with her. Last week, she coerced me into shopping. There’s nothing wrong with her. I’d say she’s in her mid to late twenties, so quite a bit older than me. She has an easy, genuine laugh and a sarcastic sense of humor. She’s persistent, too. I just didn’t plan on getting to know people, seeing as I won’t be in Miami long. But I guess you could say that we’ve become friends—lies and all.
It’s ironic that we met when we did, actually. By my pole-dancing skills and looks, Ginger automatically assumed I was a stripper. There was no judgement in those bright green eyes when she asked which club I worked at. That’s why I admitted to the few unappealing adult clubs I had applied to and the appalling “interview” at one called Sin City. The one I had run out of. Her pixie-like face lit up, which was not the reaction I was expecting. Then she explained that she bartended at the well-revered Penny’s Palace and offered to get me a job. She asked about my experience and I, of course, lied. I told her that I had worked in Vegas.
I haven’t been back to Vegas since I was six. I have certainly never stripped there.
After my experience with Sin City, I wasn’t sure if I could go through with it. But Ginger promised me that the owner, Cain, is like none other. The way she talks about him, I’d think he holds some sort of ‘boss of the millennium’ award. But he’s still staring me down. He hasn’t blinked, once.
I catch the almost indiscernible shake of his head before he offers in a clipped tone, “Charlie. Right. Hi.” “Hi.” I was cool and confident coming in here, leveraging countless hours of acting classes to ready my wide, friendly smile. Now though, under this man’s steely gaze, I hear the wobble with that one tiny word. I step forward and hold my hand out. His coffee-colored eyes finally pry themselves from my face to glare down at my hand—without moving—and I fight the urge to retract it. Ginger swore that this guy was first class but… he still makes his money off the sex trade. A lot of things get shaken under this roof and hands are probably not one of them. I never did shake the hand of that slime ball at Sin City—Rick— before he instructed me to climb onto his lap two minutes into my interview. I shouldn’t be surprised by this guy’s reaction. These owners are all the same.
I take a breath, reminding myself that I’ve handled my fair share of degenerates and can do this. Hell, I’m a degenerate. As if snapping out of a daze, Cain finally accepts my hand in his, his coffee-colored eyes locked on mine. “Hi Charlie. I’m sorry. You just…startled me. You look a lot like someone I know.” There’s a pause. “Like someone I knew,” he corrects himself softly. His voice carries with it a smooth, educated sound, which surprises me, given our surroundings.
“Okay, well, I’ll just be at the bar, getting things set up.” Ginger scoots out of the office, closing the door behind her, leaving me alone with this man. I take a few calming breaths. I’m going to throttle her. I don’t know what to expect now. Ginger didn’t tell me much about Cain, other than that he’s really nice and honest, he treats his employees very well, and if I’m going to dance in Miami, then Penny’s is the place to work. She did say that he sometimes comes off as intimidating but he’s just reserved. And he’s got a lot on his plate, running this place.
She certainly left out details about his physical appearance, I realize, as my gaze skates over his frame to see the well-defined curves beneath a fitted button down black dress shirt and black dress pants.
Cain’s the type of guy that makes you lose your words and your train of thought when he walks by. Except Ginger, it would seem. But attractive or not, I’m feeling all kinds of uncomfortable right now, as Cain’s hard, intelligent eyes slowly roll over my body, appraising me. Taking a deep breath, I pull my shoulders back. I hold my chin up. I look him straight in the eye. I do all the things I know to do to appear confident. I will not cower under the intense scrutiny. If I’m going to be up on his stage, taking my clothes off for his customers, I can’t be unnerved by this.
And so I stand and let him pass silent judgment while I survey his office, taking in all the shelves, crammed with boxes. Aside from the large desk on one end and a black leather couch tucked into a corner, it seems like a storage room. Looking at him, I’d expect something sleek and tidy.
“Ginger said you have experience?” His tone is more gentle than it was when we first stepped in. I answer without hesitation. “Yes, one year in Vegas. At The Playhouse.” I fight the urge to start twirling one of my loose blond curls. I know my tells and that’s one that says I’m lying. Ginger warned me, under no circumstances, to lie to Cain Ford, because he always finds out anyway and it pisses him off when he does. It’s kind of impossible to heed that warning though, given my situation. Plus, I am a very proficient liar.
And I’m banking on him not doing an in-depth reference check. Short of divine intervention, he won’t find a Charlie Rourke that worked at The Playhouse in Vegas.
Because Charlie Rourke doesn’t exist.

Woohoo!! The blurb is out!
"When a gorgeous young dancer walks through his door, a strip club owner must decide whether to follow his rules or his heart in the third novel by the author of One Tiny Lie and Ten Tiny Breaths.
Owning a strip club isn’t the fantasy most guys expect it to be. With long hours, a staff with enough issues to keep a psych ward in business, and the police regularly on his case, twenty-nine-year-old Cain is starting to second guess his unspoken mission to save the women he employs. And then blond, brown-eyed Charlie Rourke walks through his door, and things get really complicated. Cain abides by a strict “no sleeping with the staff” rule. But being around Charlie challenges Cain’s self-control…and it’s been a long time since any woman has done that.
Twenty-two-year-old Charlie Rourke needs a lot of money, really fast, in order to vanish before it’s too late. Taking her clothes off for men makes her stomach curl but Charlie tells herself that at least she’s putting her acting and dancing skills to good use. And though her fellow dancers seem eager to nab their sexy, sophisticated, and genuinely caring boss, she’s not interested. After all, Charlie Rourke doesn’t really exist—and the girl pretending to be her can't get distracted by romance.
Unfortunately, Charlie soon discovers that developing feelings for Cain is inevitable, and that those feelings may not be unrequited—but losing him when he finds out what she’s involved with will be more painful than any other sentence awaiting her."
I was wondering if Cain's story was going to be good. I didn't expect it to be but the blurb really helps. This sounds like it's gonna be great! K.A. Tucker, the things you write...

So...wow. This book definitely got to me in all the right places. I mean I'm still struck by that super-duper-epicly-fantastical HEA so I will try to write a good review. My thoughts are all over the place but here goes.
"In the dark, she became my light.”
This is the second book to the series Find you in the Dark. The first book I could only give 4 stars because of some pretty big issues. For one thing, Clay had some really annoying anger issues. Like one minute he was all "God Maggie, mind you're own business! I know you're trying to help but blah blah blah blah blah!" Yeah, okay. And then the next he was all "I'm so sorry baby. I have anger issues. Clearly. Please forgive me!" And then Maggie's all "I looked into his eyes and just...melted" Ohmagod, that word! MELTED. It was everywhere. Basically, both of their emotions were all over the place. It was hard to keep up and quite frankly, gave me a headache.
This book, however, improved drastically! Like you-deserve-six-stars drastically. For one thing, I think adding Clay's POV really helped us understand why he had such mind-racking mood swings. We got an inside look into this yummy boy's head! Though the emotions were still all over the place, I guess you could say this book was more understandable. Like I know Clay and Maggie were in the dark but all their bickering put ME in the dark as well. Just saying. This time, Clay really shone through! He was trying above and beyond for Maggie and well, no one could resist that. If you're a woman then you will fall for Clay and his dark, mysterious, and luring side. If not then there is something incredibly wrong with you. He was so sweet and good to Maggie in this one. He stayed on his meds, went to therapy and did anything if it meant making the two of them work.
“For a guy who struggled with finding his place in the world, standing next to Maggie, I understood one thing on a very fundamental level. Wherever she went, whatever she did, that is where I belonged.”
Maggie also really developed as a character in this book. She went from whiny, bratty, defensive, you-don't-know-the-love-i-share-with-clay-girl to the WOMAN who became stronger and took in everything with her head held high. Sure she still loved Clay after all that (who wouldn't?) but she spoke her mind and actually called him out when he treated her like total BS. And Clay understood, did his best to right his wrongs. Their relationship was full of understanding and support and light whereas in the previous one it was too dark.
All in all, I really enjoyed this one! Definitely goes in my deserves-six-stars shelf! Their HEA was the sweetest one I've read about so far. It was perfect and completely satisfying for all you fans out there. I think Walters really shone in writing this heart-wrenching, gut-twisting, tear-jerking story. I'm so pleased with how this ended! (It is the last one right?) I couldn't have asked for a more perfect conclusion to this series.
“I love you, Maggie May Young. Always and forever.” And then my mouth touched hers and I felt my future begin.”

5 Heartbreaking and Inspirational Stars!
This was a beautiful story about coincidence, trust, and honesty. This was a story about letting go of the past and making the most of your future. This was a story about taking chances and trying to live in the moment. This was a story about letting people in, when it's hardest. This was a story about coincidence. The coincidence of Callie and Kayden.
Callie [image]
Kayden [image]
Both of them have faced quite the traumatic past. They've been scarred for life on the inside so bad, It's the scars on the outside that has become so easy to handle.
“I just let the pain take over, allowing it to numb the pain of being left behind.”
Both of them aren't fond of letting anyone in. They don't want to love because they know their pasts will push everyone away. But will that happen if both lovers bring out the best in each other, help rid each other's pasts? Call it destiny, fate, or even coincidence , but Callie and Kayden found each other, only to get through life together.
This story was beyond inspirational and heartbreaking. Callie is the shy girl, the one who went through something beyond traumatic and feels numbness. At a young age, she gives up hope. She cuts her hair, dresses in baggy clothes and tries to look as ugly as possible. Does she care? No. Over the years, when she gets into uni, she meets Seth. Oh god I love him. Seth also faced his share of problems in his past life. Together, they finally own the courage to share their stories and try to improve and dwell on life. So they make, the list. They write down the things they want to take chances doing, they have to do it at some point. It was a brilliant idea. So, with the help of Seth, she starts doing better. Grows her hair back, wears clothes her size, but still remains the shy and quite girl.
Kayden has his own problems. His dad knows noting but to beat his sons up when they do something wrong. Ever since he was a young boy, Kayden got beaten up by his dad. Eventually, growing up, he's used to it and doesn't bother fighting back. He's too numb. It comes to a point where he's so unaffected, he doesn't realize his father is a few hits away from beating him to death. This is when Callie steps in. The shy, horrified girl steps in and distracts the father, sparing Kayden's life. Kayden will never forget this moment. They share a few exchanges but that's that. Four months later, they end up meeting again at the uni Callie goes to. From there, they spike up a friendship and begin bringing out the best in each other.
Throughout this story, I was crying, I was laughing, I was all over the place. And can I just say...ARE. YOU. KIDDING. ME. What kind of a cliffhanger was that? I am SO upset!! (view spoiler)[ Please don't die Kayden, please! I can't believe your stupid dad STABBED you!! *sobs for her dear life* (hide spoiler)]. Together, Callie and Kayden become brave enough to let each other in. It's a big step for both, but they take it together.
I really liked Livie's story :) And Ash!!! Holy Hotness *fanning myself*I really liked Livie's story :) And Ash!!! Holy Hotness *fanning myself*...more

There is a reason this book has such a high rating. It's because this book is the best of the best. A book doesn't get any better than this, at least, that I know of. Colleen Hoover has the ability to write a book that is so well done, even months later you will be thinking about that book, comparing it to other books, and have you saying "It's still my favourite" because that is how good this book was. I know my review is really late, but I don't even have to go over the book again. I remember it so perfectly. I mean, how could I forget? This book was powerful, intense, beautiful, hilarious, romantic, mysterious and brilliant all at once. And it wasn't overwhelming, it was incredible.
Losing Hope starts out a little differently than Hopeless. It's a new beginning from Holder's POV. In the beginning of this book, we get to see firsthand how Leslie's death happened and how it affected Holder. I have to say, I cried big time. I didn't realize how broken Holder was about Leslie's death since in the first book, he rarely discussed it with Sky. But in this book, man oh man, the poor guy had been ripped apart. This book was seriously powerful. Never have I ever felt such realistic emotions over a book before. This bit of information was new and I feel like it really made the entire story line better. People say this book felt repeated and while I can understand that, you have to look at it this way; It's the same book told a little differently and that only means you get to fall in love with it all over again. I know I did.
The rest of the book was repetitive but at the same time, different. You got to experience how Holder felt about certain situations and you got to read about his inner dialogues which I loved. Honestly, Dean Holder is my all time #1 Book Boyfriend.
If possible, I fell in love with Holder even more. His thoughts were both hilarious and heartfelt and his perspective of things were a joy to read about. I especially loved reading about how he felt when he first saw Sky.
"I can’t look away now, even though I’m trying like hell to shake the image standing in front of me.
My heart stops.
Time stops.
The whole world stops.
My quick glance turns into a full-on, unintentional stare.
I recognize those eyes.
Those are Hope’s eyes."
And things get even better once he gets to know her. He starts falling for her little by little, piece by piece.
“I wonder if it's possible for people to fall in love with a person one characteristic at a time, or if you fall for the entire person at once.”
Holder seriously had me laughing out loud at sometimes. The thoughts and feelings he had for Sky were adorable. Like I said, I fell in love with him all over again. I especially loved these quotes:
“Listen,” I say, finding an opportunity to appease all parties involved, especially myself. “I live right over on Ricker and I run by here every day on my afternoon runs. If you’d feel more comfortable, I’d be happy to run with her for the next week or so in the mornings. I usually run the track at school, but it’s not a big deal. You know, just to make sure this doesn’t happen again.”
Karen returns to the living room and eyes both of us. “I’m okay with that,” she says. She turns her attention to Sky. “If Sky thinks it’s a good idea.”
Please think it’s a good idea.
“It’s fine,” Sky says with a shrug.
I was hoping for a “Hell yes,” but “fine” will suffice.
***
I watch her for a minute, trying my best to read her, but I have no clue. If I was to hit on her right now, I don’t know if she’d punch me or kiss me. At this point, I’m pretty sure I’d be more than okay with either.
“I wasn’t trying to hit on you, either,” I say, wanting to get some sort of reaction from her. “I just thought you were someone else.”
“It’s fine,” she says softly. Her smile is tight-lipped and the disappointment in her voice is clear. It makes me smile, knowing that disappointed her a little bit.
“Not that I wouldn’t hit on you,” I clarify. “I just wasn’t doing it at that particular moment.”
She smiles. It’s the first time I actually get a genuine smile from her and it feels like I just won a triathlon.
Hahaha, you gotta live Holder! I really do love this book. I think it's an all time favourite for me. Colleen Hoover has officially raised the bar. It's gonna be quite the challenge to find a book better than this one. On top of that, I absolutely loved Daniel! He might've been a side character but the relationship between him and Holder was freaking hilarious! They had me cracking up non-stop and that really did justice to this book considering how dark it can get. I'm gonna list my favourite quotes about Daniel. Sorry, I just have to.
“Dammit,” he says, pulling back the shirt to look at the blood. “Why do I keep instigating shit that risks fucking up this beautiful face of mine?” He grins and wipes the blood from his mouth for a second time.
“I wouldn’t worry about it,” I say, laughing at how worried he always is about his looks. “You’re still prettier than me.”
Daniel grins. “Thanks, babe,” he says teasingly.
***
I look him straight in the eyes as I approach the table and we have one of our quick, nonverbal conversations. A nonverbal conversation in which I give him the go-ahead to release any pent-up frustration he might still be harboring.
He grins mischievously and loudly slaps his palms down on the table. “Holy motherfucking shit!” he yells, climbing up onto his chair. He gestures wildly toward me. “Look, everybody! It’s Dean Holder!” He proceeds to climb on top of the lunchroom table, pulling all the attention away from me and placing it on himself.
“Why is everyone staring at me?” he yells, motioning with huge, exaggerated gestures toward me. “We have the Dean Holder here! The one and only!” When only a few people look away from him toward me, he throws his hands up in the air like he’s disappointed in them. “Come on, guys! We’ve been anticipating this moment for two weeks now! Now that he’s finally here, you all decide to shut the hell up? What’s up with that?” He looks down at me and frowns, slumping his shoulders in defeat. “I’m sorry, Holder. I thought today would be a little more interesting for you. I was hoping for a Q&A session to kind of clear the air, but I didn’t realize every single person in this school is a spineless dipshit.” He begins to climb down from the table but then shoots his arm up into the air and holds up a finger. “Wait!” he says, spinning to face the entire crowd. “That’s actually a very good idea!”
I look around and expect one of the cafeteria monitors to be making their way over to him to put a stop to his spectacle, but the only monitor in the cafeteria right now is just watching him like everyone else, waiting to see what he’s up to.
Daniel jumps from our table to the table next to us, stepping on a few trays in the process. He spills chocolate milk all over the table and almost slips, but presses his hand onto the top of a guy’s head and straightens himself back up. The entire spectacle is pretty damn entertaining, so I take a seat at our table and watch him like I’m not even the reason behind his whole outburst.
***
“What you want to do tonight?
I read Daniel's text and respond.
Sorry. Plans.
WTF, puss flap!? No! Me. You. Plans.
Can't. Pretty sure I have a date.
Sky?
Yep.
Can I come?
Nope.
Can I be your date next Saturday, then?
Sure, babe.
Can't wait, sugar.”
LOOOL do you see what I mean?? How can you not love Daniel. So all in all, this book was an absolutely amazing one. I don't know how Colleen Hoover does it but she managed to create the best book in the history of all things books. Round of applause, ma'am.

There were parts where I cried, there parts where I laughed, there were even parts where I screamed in frustration but that's how you know a book is good. When you feel so much and I absolutely lived it all. So thank you, Colleen hoover, for opening my eyes and showing me what a book is supposed to look like, 'cause it doesn't get any better than this.
I've read many books before Some were good, some were bad, but the ones that made me feel, they were to be remembered I've always felt when reading, But I've read many books before Some were good, some were bad, but the ones that made me feel, they were to be remembered I've always felt when reading, But then... Then this book... Holy hell, this book A book that I'm seriously, deeply, madly, incredibly, and undeniably in love with.
This was the story of Will and Lake With passionate love With amazing little brothers With moms that inspire even with cancer With best friends that stick by you no matter what With lessons about life and when to punch it in the face
This book would be too hard to forget even if I tried Because of the Slams Because of the Avett Brothers Because of the butterflies Because of all the backward moments where you push yourself forward
My sweet was having the honour of reading such a tremendous book My suck was letting this tremendous book go My sweet was getting the satisfaction of Will and Lake's happily ever after My suck was letting their happily ever after come to an end
I'm grateful to have entered a journey as butterflying perfect as theirs No matter how bump the road, no matter how many times we had to eat basagna This book was one in a million Colleen Hoover, I and Love and You I know this is the end but to me? That's not a good idea.
Not sure if that slam was good, but it was my first so yay!
This Girl was basically the retelling of Slammed from Will's POV. You'd think a retelling of a story would be repetitive, but nothing about this book was like that. in fact, when you saw a part you recognized, you'd go "I remember this!" and then "Ohh, so that's how Will felt". Literally. We got a look inside his head from Point of Retreat but This Girl was even better. Why? Because there was something so incredibly touching about seeing Will going through Slams and heartache and butterflies with Lake. We got to see his firsts with Lake and that's what made this so intriguing. As we know from Slammed, Will and Lake go through a lot of trouble and to see how Will felt through all of this, his thoughts and emotion, was very refreshing. In Point of Retreat, they're already a couple. This Girl conjoins with Slammed to explain what he had to go through to get her in the first place. How he felt once he got her.
“Completely. Utterly. Frozen. My eyes drop to the table in front of me when she finishes. Her words are sinking in. A boy that I'm seriously, deeply, madly, incredibly, and undeniably in love with. In love with? That's what she said. In love with. As in present tense. She loves me. Layken Cohen loves me.”
They worked so hard to get their HEA, they had to overcome so much. But real love is all about trying, isn't it? It's never some walk in the park and if anyone knows this, it's these two.

So, as Will describes all his firsts with Lake, the story also switches back to their honeymoon. They talked about how they understood each other once they'd heard both sides of the story. So in a way, they're honeymoon was productive and understanding even more so. Personally, the best part about their honeymoon was that no one called Point of Retreat, if you know what I mean. Opening up did lead to some small arguments but nothing they couldn't fix. It just helped them understand each other more.
“Sometimes two people need to fall apart to realize how much they need to fall back together."
I take her hand and rest it between us, then stroke the back of it with my thumb. "Let's not fall apart again," I whisper.
She looks me in the eyes. "Never.”
Lake, although not narrating this story, did reveal some of her feelings that we didn't get to see in Slammed and that was something new on her part. Their sweet moments were absolutely heart-throbbing and I found myself falling for Will more and more with each passing sentence.

Isn't he just amazing? We do get an insight to their life after the honeymoon. It was really funny because they were talking about it with Gavin and Eddie and when Kel and Caulder asked what they did on their honeymoon, obviously Keirsten comes out with it.
“My sweet is that me and Kel are finally brothers. My suck is that I now know what Will and Layken did during their honeymoon.”
I am going to miss those two so much! Will and Lake and their HEA. Absolutely perfect!
(view spoiler)[I lean my head against Lake’s and we just stare. We stare at the daughter who is so much more than I could have asked for. The daughter who is so much more than I dreamt of. So much more than I ever thought I would have. This girl. This baby girl is my life. Her mother is my life. These girls are both my life. I reach down and pick up her hand. Her tiny fingers reflexively wrap around my pinky and I can’t choke back my tears any longer. “Hey, Julia. It’s me. It’s your daddy.”

“Just breathe,” my mom would say. “Ten tiny breaths … Seize them. Feel them. Love them.”
K.A. Tucker did a great job with her book Ten Tiny Breaths. I “Just breathe,” my mom would say. “Ten tiny breaths … Seize them. Feel them. Love them.”
K.A. Tucker did a great job with her book Ten Tiny Breaths. I haven't read something so refreshing and amazing in a while! I actually finished it one day. Dumped it down faster than a tequila shot. Thus, the book hangover.
Ten Tiny Breaths is a story about Kacey Cleary, and a car accident that changed everything. It killed her parents, her best friend Jenny, and her boyfriend, Billy. She was in the car accident herself and, fortunately, survived. Or unfortunately as Kacey looks at it. The only family she has left is her little sister Olivia, or Livie. She is so incredibly grateful for some kind of family to hold onto. She does everything to keep her well. After their Uncle Raymond ended up in Livie's room, Kacey knew they had to bolt. So, in a haste, they grabbed whatever they could and rented a new place and moved out. Kacey used to do drugs, get into trouble, the usual, to keep everything out. To numb her feelings. If she did feel that is. But after seeing how hard it was for Livie to cope with her horrible habits, she stopped altogether and went into boxing, becoming a hard-to-the-core redhead.
Kacey [image]
Kacey has completely blocked herself out from everyone. She doesn't feel, doesn't cry, she just is. Everything emotional only applies to Livie. She takes out all those bottled-up emotions and rage by boxing. Yup, she is a seriously awesome heroine. In fact, she's stronger than most guys and I grew to like her quite fast, though at times she could be a handful even reading about. But she really is one of the best heroines I've read about. Seriously, I loved her. She came onto you so strong but I really appreciated her strength, her protectiveness. But she pushed everyone away. Even boys altogether. They have no affect on her. That is, until she meets Trent.
Trent [image]
Trent is such an awesome guy. Sweet, kind, hot, anything a girl could want. And he seems to want her. Trent has such a huge affect her, it takes Kacey aback. He also plays a big part in this story. And when I say, I mean big! I have to say, usually I figure out the mystery behind things, but this book was a total shocker! When Trent finds out that she blocks everything out, all he wants to do is help. And he is the sweetest guy ever, really. Their growing relationship was such a roller coaster! Everyone around them could see how much they meant to each other, but they didn't give in. Although, I'm not saying there weren't some pretty intense scenes between the two. Not at all. He did everything he could to make Kacey smile.
“I want to make you smile. For real. Always. We're going to go for dinners, and see movies, and walk on the beach. We'll go hang-gliding, or bungee jumping, or whatever you want to do. Whatever makes you smile and laugh more. Let me make you smile.”
Kacey wouldn't let herself feel. Well, she did but she'd deny it completely. She thought Trent would leave her by then, but no. Trent was very persistent.
“I don't hate you. I could never hate you. Give me your heart, Kacey. I'll take everything that comes with it.”
This book was so amazing! I really honestly loved it. How long did it take me all in all? Oh, I don't know, 6 or 7 hours. How could it not? I mean at points I was too engrossed in the book to even go to the bathroom! But I couldn't help it. I loved it that much! I really liked the heat between these two as well. Here's a teaser:
"His arm slides out from my knees to grip my side, scorching my bare skin. It’s him that deepens the kiss, slipping his tongue into my mouth, one hand working its way through my shampoo-coated hair, gripping a handful at the nap of my neck tightly. He forces my head back as his tongue connects with mine, his mouth sweet and fresh. He’s strong, that much I can sense. If I wanted to, I don’t think I could fight him off. But I don’t want to. Not one bit. Without breaking his connection to my mouth, Trent somehow shifts me onto my back and now he’s hovering over me on my bed, our torsos flattened against each other, my inner thighs hugging his hips while his forearms keep his full weight off my body. I don’t know what’s happening, what I’m doing, what has taken over all rational thought, but I know I don’t want it to stop. Every fiber of my body is craving it. Craving Trent."
All in all, great book. Seriously, go read it. It does not dissapoint! The mystery behind the car accident, amazing. The ending, beautiful. The book, genius. Definitely deserving of 6 stars!
“Forever’s a long time.” Trent’s arms squeeze around me. “Forever’s not long enough when it’s with you.”
We begin this story with a girl named Camryn Bennett, who just wants to set out and "backpack the world". Camryn “Everybody starts out as strangers.”
We begin this story with a girl named Camryn Bennett, who just wants to set out and "backpack the world". Camryn wants adventure, for life to show her a sign. No one is willing to take her up on this deal so she sets out on her own. She doesn't have a plan or any idea as to were she's going but that's what I loved. She is simply living in the moment.
Camryn [image]
Camryn is nothing like her friend Natalie, whom I nearly hated because of her attitude. Natalie is loud and a party animal. Camryn is much more composed and seeks an adventurous life. No parties, all nature and living. So she finds herself on the next bus out and thus, begins the story of an epic road trip. A road trip filled with amazing experiences, opportunities, love and mischief. Although you can't have a road trip without a hot guy and his guitar. Enter Andrew Parrish.
Andrew [image]
Andrew has his own reasons to travel. He's visiting his sick father and doesn't exactly want to. I don't blame him. Sometimes, life is just too hard. Coincidentally, he ends up on the same bus as Camryn. Like everyone else, they start out as strangers. When Camry first spots him coming on the bus, she (obviously) notes his looks but keeps herself safe. She doesn't want him to sit next to her and thus began their spunky friendship. Andrew liked that attitude of hers.
"As I near the girl on the bus, I notice her move her bag over onto the aisle seat so that I won’t sit there. That’s funny. I mean yeah, she’s cute and all but there are about ten or so empty seats on this bus."
Adorable, aren't they? So when Andrew learns that Camryn really isn't going to Idaho (she told him that before), he also learns that she wants to backpack the world. And of course, he agrees. So they start out their amazing journey! I loved every minute of it. The twists and turns, the rather shocking secrets, the romance. Oh my, Miss J.A. Redmerski really knows how to write her love scenes. This book was one heckuva emotional roller coaster but you'd love every minute of it!
He treats Cam right, most of all.
His eyes are wide and fierce and sincere when finally I turn around. He steps up to me and grips my upper-arms carefully in his hands. And then he leans in and presses his lips softly against mine. I wilt, but I’m still too confused to react properly to it. Confused and stunned and my heart is racing. He pulls away and looks in at me, his face every bit of sincere and he tilts his head to one side…smiling. “Why is that funny?” I ask sharply and go to push away from him. He holds me still by my arms and forces my humiliated gaze, which is beginning to reflect resentment. “I say that I’m not into you like that, Camryn, because…,” he pauses, searching my face, looking at my lips for a moment as if deciding whether or not he should kiss them again, “…because you’re not the girl I could only sleep with once.”

It was so much better than I though it would be. I know JLA is a great author but man, this book was insanely amazing! It was hilarious, swoony, heartbreaking, action packed, and my favourite from the series.
Daemon & Katy [image]
Origin continues off from that horrible cliff hanger in Opal. It's told in both Daemon and Katy's perspective. Let me tell you, the fact that Daemon partially narrates this book alone is enough to convince a reader to read this one. It was so entertaining to be in this guy's head. As usual, even through the toughest times, Daemon was outrageously hilarious and swoony! I absolutely love his character. Out of all the book boys I've read about, I think the award officially goes to him. Katy, she went through a lot in this book as well but she also remained as one of my favourite heroines ever! Put these two together and you get quite possible the best book couple ever. I totally ship them.
“You've been awake a while?" When his smile spread, I shook my head. "So you just laid there and let me stare at you like a creeper?" "Pretty much, Kitten. I figured I'd let you get your fill, but then you kissed me and, well, I like to be a bit more involved in that.”
The one thing I love the most about this was the fighting. There was just so much action and it was the most epic thing to read about. I'm telling you, they turn this into a show and it'll be totally kick-butt! I really liked that, as opposed to the other three books, this book had so much action and it was descriptive and vivid that I nearly passed out from it's awesomeness. JLA really knows how to write her fight scenes. I also loved that she kept the paranormal aspect of this book. Most authors tend to focus on more on the romance than the actual paranormal concept but JLA was the exception. Not that this didn't have any romance. Please. It had the perfect amount of chemistry between Daemon and Katy as usual.
Another thing we got to see in this book was Daemon's soft side. Yeah, you read that right. His soft side. Daemon Black can be extremely sweet when he wants to. The things he said and thought about Katy had me going "Awww!" every single time. Any one who was around me during this would just give me looks, but whatever. Anyways, I adored this side of daemon. I swear he is perfect from all dimensions.
“There's only one thing I want." "And that is?" "I want to see Kat." Nancy's smile didn't fade. "And what are you willing to do to accomplish that?" "Anything," I said without hesitation, and I meant it. "I will do anything, but I want to see Kat first and I want to see her now.”
Aside from all that, this book was actually really grim. Let me warn you, people were constantly dying. I had tears in my eyes from how much death there was, it was literally affecting me that much. The deaths and the torture just would not stop but I feel like this book actually needed all that to help build-up the plot. Seriously, the things Katy went through were beyond horrible. I really felt for her and admired how strong she stayed throughout all of it. And Daemon, man, talk about your classic "man in shining armor"! He did everything he could to save Katy. But not just those two. All the side characters went through their own kind of hell as well. You'd be surprised about the change in some characters in this book. It caused them to do things they would never have done in the past.
Speaking of side characters, I really really really hope Archer and Dee get a book! They were so flippin' hilarious and adorable. Everything related to these two had me cracking up constantly. My personal favourite quote about these two: (It's kind of a spoiler though, but just a bit.)
"I figured it was time to drop the bomb. “Archer isn’t human, Dee.” Her frown deepened. “So he’s a hybrid? Makes sense.” “Uh, no. He’s, well, he’s something different. He’s what they call an origin—he’s a kid of a Luxen and a hybrid.” After that sunk in, she shrugged. “So? I’m an alien. I’m not judgmental.” I smiled at that, glad she was showing interest in a guy after Adam. “Well, there’s one more thing. I’d be careful of what you think around him.” “Why?” “The origins have some freaky abilities,” I explained, watching her eyes widen into saucers. “He can read your mind without you even knowing.” Dee’s face went from pale to bright cherry. “Oh God.” “What?” She smacked her hands over her face. “Well, the whole time we were downstairs, I was so picturing him naked.”.
Bahahahhaha oh my god! I absolutely love that!
But yeah, this book was amazing. Seriously, those who have not read this book are missing out. You think you've read a good book? Read this one and then talk. Those of you who have read it, please tell me you're just as desperate as I am to get my hand on Opposition, book 5? From the title, I think I have a vague idea of what it's about. Thanks to that cliffhanger. Seriously, what is it with this woman and her cliffhangers?! But she's awesome so I'll let her off the hook. All in all, this book was the kind of book that reminds you why you read. It was exciting and thrilling and a home-run for me! A well deserved 6 stars!
“Did you think you could stop me?" Power shot from me, smacking into the door behind Dawson, blowing it off the hinges and into the house. "I'll burn the world down to save her.”
