But alas, I read it now, much older. And my silly, nostalgic little heart loves it just as much as if I had read it years ago. It’s such a charming, unique, hilarious tale of mice and princesses and thread and soup and honestly, it’s a gift to humanity. I have a feeling that no matter how many generations pass by, this book will still shine just as brightly as it does now. It has one of those timeless feels to it, like it could never be outdated.

Rereading this series has been sm fun with my memories of all the little subplots coming back to me as I read. I think I annoyed the heck out of my sisters with the amount of times I said "oh my goSH I FORGOT ABOUT THAT!"
But my obviously impeccable memory aside, this one was lowkey better than the first. It was fun and funny and fast-paced and (hereee I shall break the alliteration, my apologies) the dialogue was top tier. There was a noticeable lack of bland golden boys and pick-me "doesn't know she's beautiful" brats which I appreciated. My husband Percy was as hilarious, sassy, hot, and amazing as always and I just wanted to be besties with Hazel and give poor Frank a hug.
I did miss Leo, but I have a feeling he'll be in the other ones quite a lot. Found family is my favorite trope so I am unspeakably excited for all of the seven to come together in the next books. Although if my crappy amazing memory serves to be correct, I have a real heartbreak for an ending coming up in the next book. Oh, well. I'll have my tissues ready.
~pre-review~
Octavian is a little rat. He had no right to destroy Percy’s panda pillow. Smh.

this was the most adorable novelette! With its snazzy mint-green cover, loveable characters, light and cute writing, and amazing themes, this story had me under its bookish spell from the first page to the last. It's the perfect length and is so comfortable in its own skin.
I've read a lot of books with broken or messed up characters, but the books almost never point towards the only one who can take away that pain and hurt. Jesus Christ. And this book, with its 84 pages, has a more effective redemption story than the 400+ pages of some typical YA novel that I've read in the past. I don't know if the author writes from personal experience, someone else's, or if this story and premise are 100% fictional, but whatever it is, she handles it beautifully!
Overall this was such a cute and hopeful little story and I highly recommend picking it up when you have an hour or two to kill or want to cuddle up with a light book and a cup of tea on a rainy day. I am impossibly excited to see what comes next from this budding author ...more

When I was but a wee child, I spit upon the idea of graphic novels. They were not real books. They did not count. I read the biggest, fattest books you could find in the little middle grade section of my library. I basked in the attention of adults who said how smart and mature I was. I probably annoyed the heck out of all of my peers.
And the biggest, fattest, most impressive books I read? The Keeper of the Lost Cities series. Those monsters would earn comments everywhere I took them.
And now, here I am. Having read a Keeper of the Lost Cities graphic novel.
We have come to a full circle, and my younger self would be ashamed of me.
Although I still have an aversion to graphic novels, I did enjoy this one. The art style was pretty cute, though sometimes the artist's interpretation of the characters annoyed me. And I know, the cover is horrifying, but the rest of the book was much better.
The whole world and scenes and plot just hold so much nostalgia for me, so it was a ton of fun reading it with a different perspective. The dialogue was pretty much word-for-word, with a couple minor scenes cut, so I don't think there's a ton to complain about.
Overall, although this felt a little bit like a money grab, it was a fun read and I know Keeper fans will enjoy it ...more

I could've stayed like that for hours, perfectly content, appreciating the way the afternoon sunlight glinted in Annabeth's hair, or the way her pulse aligned with mine when we held hands.
I would know Annabeth's face anywhere. I love her face.
"Finish your homework." "Yes, ma'am." She nodded, satisfied, and blew me a kiss.
I wrote AC +PJ.
"I have a message for Annabeth Chase," I said. "I love you."
I imagined Annabeth with silver hair and wrinkles, chuckling as she called me Seaweed Brain for the four millionth time in our lives.
"I hate to break it to you, but I think I might love you." "Ah, crud. I was afraid of that. I love you, too."

The Selection was good. The Elite was meh. And then this.
THISSSS.
This was SOOO heart-achingly amazing. Literally I started crying every time Maxon said something romantic or America and Maxon had a cute moment. (view spoiler)[I started crying when Maxon caught America with Aspen. I started crying when Maxon jumped in front of America and said--
He said--
"Break my heart. Break it a thousand times if you like. It was only ever yours to break anyway."
I started SAWBBING during the epilogue. And yes, I do cry for books a lot but not THAT MANY TIMES and not THAT hard unless I'm legitimately OBSESSED with it.
Like. CELESTE. I loved her. (Which...y'know...stinks because....yeah). And AMERICA (who actually got less infuriating. Character growth!) and MAXON (don't even get me started on this guy AHHHHHH HE'S SO PERFECT). And EVERYONE ELSE except for the king because he deserves only death and Aspen because mphhh and Elise because she's just boring and probably other characters I'm forgetting because YEAH.
Alsooo. (view spoiler)[the huge rebel attack? Where Celeste just goes ¡boom! And America's like panicking in the safe room? The entire time I was SOOOO freakin' scared but the suspense was SO WELL DONEEEEE.

this is a very strange and whimsical collection of a little girl’s almost disjointed interactions with a bunch of mentally ill people and creatures. There’s a certain charm in the weird dialogue and scenery that any author would fail miserably at trying to imitate today. I had a wonderful time reading it, and I’ll always love wonderland and the magic it holds and nostalgia it brings me!...more

Estamos más guapas con la boca cerrada. We are prettier with our mouths shut.
Ruta Sepetys is an absolute gem of an author. So many times, when authors are basing their books off of a true event or a certain culture, they are lazy, uneducated, and insulting.
Not Ruta.
It took her eight years to write this book. Why? Because she did research. So much research. She talked to people who went through the events of this book. She visited the places in this book. She had a Spanish translator. She read countless books on the topic. She made every painstaking detail as accurate as she could, because she knows how important it is to portray this kind of thing correctly.
Spain went through some horrible things under Franco, and she brings that to light beautifully with amazing talent and tact, creating vibrant, vivid characters (who are all my best friends and need a huge hug) and an adorable, lovely romance, and revealing the historical events in a heart-in-your-throat kind of way to make you feel like you’re living the story right alongside the characters.
Dan is a cinnamon roll. Ana is a cinnamon roll. Rafa is a cinnamon roll. Yet they are all supremely different.
I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH.
Every bit of it is a true masterpiece, and that’s that.
