It made for short on paper time with this lesson. I was lowkey disappointed because I was looking forward to this lesson being so exciting. We got more of her emotional and mental state with regards to the lessons and the progress of things. She is definitely starting to unravel as she still has yet to see and know who her husband is. As she gets more sexual however, we start to see the indirect effect it is having in her life and the confidence it's giving her. After being sheltered and promised since birth, she is now finding another type of confidence and the ramifications of, dare I say, 'letting the cat out of the bag'. Purrrrr I am ready for the other lessons please!

The 0.5 less was for the format of interchanging stories every chapter and each chapter being so tiny that by the time your teeth sink into it you're back into the other story. The upside to all that is that every chapter SLAPS! This book is filled with so much information and you will get confused at times, but just continue reading, it'll register eventually. Khirin is a lost orphan and part of a prophecy, the problem is that there are many prophecies and many different people that think he fits into different prophecies. I love Jenn's world building as it's introduced as the story unfolds and not as a dump in the earlies. There are footnotes throughout the book (IGNORE THEM, its truly just a bunch of extra UNNECESSARY info that would confuse you) and a glossary at the end that is amazing and I suggest an e-book read as it easy to navigate. There is a bunch of comical notes and lots of action! Magical and physical fighting, shift changing mimics, obsessive dragons, Gods of death and magic and most importantly and confusingly....A gemstone that allows you to swap bodies with people that try to kill you. The end wrap up was AMAZING and just enough to keep me champing at the bit for book 2. ...more

It was tame in all sense of the words (smut and violence) but it was still a feel good fantasy book. I absolutely adored the heroine Lou from page one. Her personality is sassy and courageous and still yet vulnerable (she shows this ONLY when she has no other choice to). I loved that Reid (the witch hunter was a man of complete honour so much so that even though he was not a fan of marriage, he was going to do everything in his power to honour that oath. There was one sex scene at about 63% in for those of you that are looking for that. The twists at the end were great but they weren't wow enough to make me audibly gasp you know. It was a dainty 'oh wow looka dat shit'. I will read book two but I'm not over the top excited to read it....more
