I was a bit disappointed when I found the book is about the men of Tall Oaks not the women whom I am so invested in. In time, I was interested in how things worked out for Mr. Burton as well. A story about love and loyalty and about being a good person ... how could you not be touched by Glory Over Everything. Thank you kindly Kathleen Grissom for giving us these two wonderful books....more

"The Language ofI chose to read "The Language of Flowers" following a very somber read thinking that it would be a "light read". It is far from that! "The Language of Flowers" tells of Victoria's life in the Foster Care System. It tells of a girl who believes she is not worthy of love. Clearly, Vanessa Diffenbaugh is familiar with the Foster Care System and the effects it has on those in it. This is a serious sometimes difficult story of Victoria and also a women that almost became her mother. It wasn't the light read I expected, but it was a story I will not soon forget. I recommend it!...more

The characters were likable but not deep enough ... I felt like I knew Lydia somewhat and eventually Norris a bit but the others were vague and not fully formed. I loved the loyalty of the dog ... and even the friendship with her ex-husband. I wanted more. I'm not sorry I read "Lydia's Party" but I definitely wanted more....more

I never got it but I still liked A Secret Kept by Tatiana de Rosnay. I expected Sarah's Key which it is not ... but it is a good read when you want to cry a bit. It is a reminder of how many of us have experienced tragic losses of loved ones far too soon. It made me want to visit Paris again ... and again ... Thank you Tatiana de Rosnay, I look to read another of your books in the not too distant future....more

The writing is direct and clear and I like that style okay ... I think it was just not the book for me. ...more

My father is from Pennsylvania and he lived in mining country so I had a strong interest in the subject. The characters in the boy are haunted by their pasts and their lives were pretty bleak. I am glad I read "Hollow Ground" but I would have liked a little tighter storyline....more
