it was ok

'Crap! My astronaut crewmates accidentally left me behind on Mars! I'm fucked! I'm going to die! Oh wait! I just thought of something highly logically unlikely and technically complicated, that I am sure to pull off without a hitch, because did I mention that I am Plucky and Ingenious? It sure is a good thing that I am super-talented! Yay! That worked! I'm not dead! [Next chapter] But wait! Disaster has struck! Shit happens, when you're stuck alone on Mars. Whatever shall I do? OMG, I just had a great idea! It's a good thing I'm so naturally optimistic, because it sure would make for a bummer book if I ever showed any signs of being depressed or having any kind of mental deterioration after spending nearly two years in total solitude! Nah, I've got the fightin' spirit! I can create a life support system out of duct tape! What does Mars actually look like? Is there anything interesting from a scientific perspective about it? Who cares! I'm busy growing potatoes in shit and watching Three's Company! Did I mention that disco sucks?'

Repeat.

For a while.

I do not get the hype.

Dennis I’m sorry that you were to shallow enough to enjoy a good read. At least Andy Weir put more substance into his book than you did with your rather bland and banal review. Besides, if The Martian were really a well written and loved book, someone just might make a movie out of it. Fat chance of that happening.

Just Brian I'm sorry that you were "to shallow enough" (sic) to encounter an opinion contra to yours, without having to resort to a childish ad hominem attack.

Michael mark didn’t show many signs of being depressed (he did although it is not very explicit cuz it’s shown thru his humor) because he is almost always working and when he isn’t he’s sleeping or doing random shit. idk if u expected him to become a super angst depressed loner but that’s clearly not in his nature and there doesn’t need to be an explanation for his natural optimism because it’s simply because that’s who he is. and how are any of his ideas illogical? and how does his genius not make sense? they’re not gonna send scientifically incompetent mfs to mars dude 💀 along with the fact he is a professional at what he does he has been specifically trained for this mission. shitty review.

message 257: by Mark (new) - rated it 4 stars

Mark Hebwood MSK - no they are not. The book is brilliant fun, the movie is tedious. Well, in my opinion at least… 😂

message 258: by Alexandra (new) - added it

Alexandra I’m laughing because yeah, this is the most accurate review hahah

message 259: by Thomas (new) - rated it 5 stars

Thomas I think this one is funny because this book is the most scientifically accurate fictional book out there, and this person STILL called it logically unlikely.

message 260: by Owen (new) - rated it 4 stars

Owen Stroup I dont agree with this because this book is scientifically correct.
