A Monster Calls

i think this is honestly the best book about grief and coping that i have ever read. it was a wonderfully imaginative and truly insightful story. i love how it expressed such a tender subject in a really wild, but gentle, way.
i wish i had half the creativity and story-telling ability that patrick ness has. i cant believe such a powerful message was held within such a tiny book. it just goes to show that you dont need a lot of words to impact someone if they are the right words.

Lovely review! I adore this book with all my heart! I would also highly recommend the movie adaptation of it! :)
I am glad you enjoyed it.
This is definitely one of the more touching books of this subject. I would have made this a mandatory reading in school as a way to address the issues there.

It's one of the most ***original*** stories about grief too! Should watch the movie soon,
I bawled my eyes out with this book, and I NEVER cry. Glad you enjoyed it. I agree completely that it's a book with a strong message about dealing with grief.
This is one of my favourite books. The way that emotion is portrayed is so fast-paced yet so stable and personal. I battered through this book in such little time simply because of how easy it hits home and how strong and descriptive the prose Ness portrays is.
annerie - awwww. im so happy to hear that this touched you emotionally. so glad it was a good reading experience for you! <3
