My goodness! This book was so incredible and so beautifully written! I am emotionally spent. Honestly, it took me a while to get into it. About halfway through things started to shift. I would say the first half of the book is 3 stars and the second half is 5 stars. I might even come back later and up my rating to 5 stars once I sit with it for a while.
I loved reading about the Muslim faith through these characters and I love a good story about complex family relationships.
It took a while for me to get used to the writing as it wasn't a linear narrative so it was frustrating to follow at first. But Fatima's writing was so beautiful that that quickly got overshadowed.
Overall, this was a fantastic read and I'm so glad I stuck it out!

More so that it’s a nonlinear narrative and the timeline is jumping all over the place. I don’t prefer stories told in that way.
