"A novel of art, time, love, and plague that takes the reader from Vancouver Island in 1912 to a dark colony on the moon three hundred years later, unfurling a story of humanity across centuries and space.”

I listened to the unabridged audiobook Sea of Tranquility written by Emily St. John Mandel and expertly read by John Lee, Dylan Moore, Arthur Morey, and Kirsten Potter.
Dystopian books are not my regular reading genre, but I thoroughly enjoyed this novel of time travel and metaphysics. Eighteen-years-old Edwin St. Andrew crosses the Atlantic by steamship and eventually makes his way from Halifax to Vancouver Island, British Columbia. He enters the forest, spellbound by the beauty of the Canadian wilderness, and suddenly hears the notes of a violin echoing in an airship terminal- an experience that shocks him to his core.
The characters Olive Llewelyn, who is a famous writer, and Gaspery Roberts, a hotel detective, are so well
developed that I wouldn't be surprised if they walked off the pages and into my world.
I look forward to reading Emily St. John Mandel's next book!

Libby Excellent review, Kathleen. I've read one book by this author, Station Eleven. It was also unique :-)

Kathleen Libby, thank you for your comment. Station Eleven is a book that I have not read, but after reading your fabulous review have added it :-)
