Hmm .... I found out we have a surprising/ a lot of books in common. I read the Holmes stories in high school but I have no desire to go back. Oh, we both read Bronwyn's Bane, I in paperpack, when it was brand spanking new, and I have it sitting on my pile of "books I might re-read" a literal stack of books that I liked at one time and can't remember except in a very vague way- yes it's been 20 plus years.

Yes, we do seem to like a lot of the same genres. I can't believe I'm only reading the Sherlock Holmes books now. They are more entertaining than I thought they'd be. I have good memories of reading Bronwyn's Bane. There is some humor and entertaining main characters from what I remember. In a vague way, like you said.
And the red-tape worm on the cover.
