This is a little extra story in the Fablehaven series. It comes after Volume 17. I'm not the biggest Bigby fan and this is all about him. I guess I don't like that raw primal sort of character all that much.

Anyway,

Bigby is looking for a new location for Fablehaven and thinks the town of Story City, IA might be a good place. This is an actual city, but in this story, it's a fictional take on the town. The city was owned by Bluebeard, so Bigby is curious.

Turns out, it's a town of werewolves, thousands of them, little a normal American Pie sort of life, in most ways. Or is it.

Bigby gets in there and of course everything bubbling under the surface comes to the surface and it's a huge explosion. It's quite the violent story. There is also a lot of backstory given as well.

It's an entertaining story. I could see it making a good movie, if the right character moments were pulled out of the story. This story focuses on the werewolf violence and so it's mostly fighting of some sort. I want to finish up the Fablehaven series. I need to see if I can get it through interlibrary loan as they no longer have the whole series.

Chad Fablehaven is a different prose fantasy series for kids. This comic is just Fables.

Chad, you are correct. My head can get things confused at times. Thanks for the clarification. I've read both.

No worries. I've made the same kind of mistake before. It's a good review and probably my least favorite thing in Fables written by Willingham.

The series is amazing. I have loved it. It's so detailed and involves so many stories. It's my cup of tea.

If you haven't yet, you should read Jack of Fables after you finish this. The ending is weak but the rest is good and it's also by Willingham. The two books crossover too. That's fun because the creative teams and characters switch books too.

Chad, I've read the 1st and maybe the 2nd one. I thought they were good. I'll have to get them ILL as our library doesn't have more than that.

Joe Krakovsky I don't know who looks scarier, the guy or the wolves?

The guy is scarier. They are all werewolves though.

Calista Hi Gissia, It's not an Aesop's fables I know. This is a bloody, gorey story. I'm sorry I'm not more helpful.
