Oh, this is truly such a charmingly magical fairy tale! There's just something about Narnia that is so beautiful, even if it seems to be quite a dangerous place with a lot of fighting and wars and killing. I think this charming feeling is mostly due to the book's gorgeous writing: No matter what is going on, this book makes it sound so pretty and mystical!
I think it also really helped my enjoyment that I listened to it on audio. Not only did the narrator have a really calming, soothing voice that felt like being wrapped in a warm blanket, it also gave me all the nostalgic vibes that you used to get when being read to by a parent. The narration really made it so much easier for me to get lost in the story and accept some of its silliness; it kind of made me feel like a kid again!
P.S. I was surprised to find that Edmund was my favourite in this book! Especially since he was the only one I didn't like in the first one.
'The Chronicles of Narnia':
1. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - 4.5 stars
2. Prince Caspian - 3.5 stars

@cal — thankyou, babe🤍🤍 i gotta say though that you’ve definitely made me super curious (and anxious) about the last book🫣
Great review! I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’ve been wanting to read this series for so long. It seems so fun and whimsical :)
I read these aloud to my children and they still talk about them years later. Glad you enjoyed this one. Excellent review 💜💜
@jayla — it definitely is! you do have to keep an open mind about it cus it’s meant for children so u shouldn’t take it too seriously, but if you accept the whimsy, it’ll be super charming🩷🩷
i love when the narration enhances your experience with the book cause sometimes it can be the opposite & that’s not fun 😭
@Krysta — Oh totally! I’m not usually a big audiobook fan for that very reason, but I think it worked perfectly for this book☺️
@Rain — The growth and self-awareness of Edmund really made me appreciate him, and I loved how sweet he was to Lucy now <3
Now is when I admit that I'm ashamed for not having read any Narnia book yet 😭 So glad you enjoyed! Definitely sounds so fun and magical. Maybe next year for me??
I remember really enjoying this one as well when I read it in school. True, Edmund really stepped up 🤌 Great review babe 🩷
I forgot the movies were originally a book series ahh I'm so glad you enjoyed this <3 the right narration/narrator truly is everything
Lovely review, Imme! I plan to re-read and review this series at some point, I have little memory of it.
@aimee — I had never read them before either! I’m definitely sad that they were never a part of my childhood cus I bet mini me would have loved them hahah😉
@SK — I honestly wish I’d read them when I was young!☺️ Although, maybe the nostalgic feel of the books are extra charming to me now since I’m no longer used to reading books like that🤷🏻♀️ In any case, yess, Edmund really had so much growth and im proud of him🫶🏻🫶🏻
@jasmine — im so jealous you read them as a child!🥹 I wish I’d done that too, but for some reason Narnia is a book series I never got around😔
@Sabrina — Yea I did watch the movies as a kid, but I was never really a fan🫣 I dunno if maybe I just wasn’t in the mood at the time or maybe the books are way better?😅
narnia is one of those worlds i know i'd feel so nostalgic returning to after i read it when i was a kid. so glad you had so much fun with these characters though! 💖 edmund was never gonna be my fav after book one haha but i feel like he's a very realistic character at times so he definitely grew on me over the course of the books.
this year I also started reading narnia!! happy you enjoyed it!! these books are truly magical as you said 🤍
@lila — I think it might have helped that it’s been a little while since I read the first book, so his actions there had been a bit forgotten by me already. I do remember him being a jealous brat, but what he did exactly, I can’t remember LOL. In any case, I thought it was nice to see how much he had learned from his wrong-doings in the past and how he was resolved to make up for it here😌💕
@aleksandra — aww really?? love that!!🥰 i genuinely think the magic in these books can be felt no matter how old you are, so they’re totally worth reading now still☺️
@Kati — Surprisingly, I was actually never quite fond of the movies, but the books have managed to charm me completely😊🤎
We grew up reading these, and I remember really enjoying this one (and also liking Edmund so much more!). Wonderful review, Imme 💜
I love the movies🤩 and I have been thinking about trying the books! Sorry, this one wasn't as good as the first but at least you still had fun🫶.
@allison — the books are a million times better for me than the movies (which i never actually liked all that much🫣)
