3.5⭐
Genre ~ domestic thriller
Setting ~ Yorkshire, England
Publication date ~ March 19, 2024
Est page Count ~ 320 (p+ 50 chapters +e)
Audio length ~ 8 hours 44 minutes
Narrators ~ Emma Swan, Kristin Atherton
POV ~ mostly dual 1st with extra POVs towards the end
Featuring ~ 6 parts, controlling husband, old secrets, revenge
Cassie & Jon have moved into his childhood home, along with 4 year old, Teddy.
Amy inserts herself into Cassie's life by offering to dog sit while Cassie begins a new job.
Becca lives next door and is not too happy when she sees John is back in town.
It's obvious Jon, Becca and Amy know each other and the author does a good job of building up the suspense of what happened 10 years ago.
It’s books like this that I’m happy I never have any strangers in my house watching my child or dog. You never know what someone will do when no one is watching. I'd probably install a camera if it were me. All characters were pretty unlikable, except for Suki the dog, of course. Jon was the worst. It's weird, but they all seemed older then 28, not sure why, maybe I expect controlling husbands to be older.
Overall, a solid, fast paced domestic thriller. The twists weren't overall thrilling, but there nonetheless.
Narration notes:
I thought they both did a wonderful job. They were properly frantic was necessary.
*Thanks to the author, Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for the audio copy. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review*

A controlling husband, dusty secrets, and a dash of revenge - sounds like I’ve got a spicy domestic thriller stew brewing! Can’t wait to savor it while I conquer my chores! 😎
