My author journey is something of an embarrassment. I've always been labeled as a "good writer": In high school my writing earned high marks, I used my writing ability to win wildly competitive university scholarships and my coworkers consistently asked me to improve their writing. Despite these clues, it didn't occur to me to develop this talent for DECADES! I still wonder how I missed this truth about myself. My next mistake was thinking that being good at writing equaled writing a good novel. In my first attempt, the words flowed well enough, but the story stank! I was stunned at how bad it was.
