I have conflicting feelings about this one. I loved how this gave me an insight into Ghanian society - the contrast between the truly rich and the truly poor is stark. But I just couldn't get into the story. Sure, it moves along, but there were lots ...more

I had forgotten how good Liane Moriarty can be. I devoured this book over the weekend, all 500+ pages of it. There are moments when the pace falters, but honestly, I didn't care. The overall story is intriguing enough. ...more

Finding Order in Disorder by Ishaa Vinod Chopra
Rate this book

This is a courageous book, and I deeply wish I could like it better.

It's not easy to write about a mental health disorder. I should know that. I appreciate Ishaa's courage in writing this. However, the problem is not her - it's the editing and struct

The Lantern of Lost Memories by Sanaka Hiiragi

What is it with all these quirky novels coming from Japan? 'The Lantern of Lost Memories' was a sweet sweet read. Yeah, it is cloying. But it's like a good tea cake. You can sit back, and relax and think about life in this quaint photobooth.

I had loved Claudia's earlier work and was eagerly looking forward to this.

This lacks the punch of the other book. Perhaps, the narrator was someone I couldn't connect with. This might be a good thing as the narrator is a murderer. There's definitel

Every time I need a pick-me-up in life, I turn to Anne Lamott. Her non-fiction essays have something magical in them - a deep understanding of life. Having a deep understanding of life means that you usually are able to laugh loudly. Deeply. Fill you ...more

And So I Roar by Abi Daré

I had been so looking forward to this. I had absolutely loved Abi Dare's debut novel, The Girl With Louding Voice.

And there are flashes of that brilliance in the character of Adunni. But 'And So I Roar' tries too hard and puts too many things. Bruta

The Dallergut Dream Department Store by Lee Mi-ye

It started so promisingly - the idea of a department store that sells dreams? I am on it!

But it became quite confusing, really. There were too many new things for my head to comprehend, and I lost interest toward the end.

What a rivetting book this is. Feminist and moving. A deep ode to friendship. I devoured this book over the weekend, and wanted to get back and re-read it.

Lonely Castle in the Mirror by Mizuki Tsujimura

School was a terrible place for me. I wasn't bullied the way the kids in 'Lonely Castle in the Mirror' are, but it was never a safe space for me.
