I may be a real person with a real life, but internally, I always see myself as a person steeped in stories, whether they are the ones I read and utterly fall into, or the ones I write, which is somewhat more intense and overwhelming.

They are all my lifeline, my obsession, my hopes, and my dreams.

In other words, I'm a nerd. But a nerd with a 500+ book reading habit per year, with writing approximately 1.5 novels per year.

I'm a pretty heavy introvert despite the sheer number of reviews I write, but I am absolutely approachable if it's about anything I'm excited about.

Stories. Ah, yes. Stories. :)

Artists

It's very hard being an artist. A lot of the time it's like being invisible if you're not just ignored.

Truth. Maybe it's different for some people, but for the rest of us, we either get skins of stone and perform our art in the dark or we pretend (or believe) that it is a calling on par with the priesthood... without the fringe benefits.

I've made very little on any of these novels. Maybe it is bec Read more of this blog post »

Trish
Trish is 7% done with Murder on Lake Garda: Maybe it wasn't the smartest idea reading about a murder on Lake Garda when I'm on holiday with the family here and want to murder people ... not that I need this book to give me ideas, but it MIGHT give me enough inspiration on how to get away with murder to seriously reduce my inhibition threshold.

A ton of Charles Stross books focus on economics, but it's not limited to just him. A lot of SF does. Heinlein is great for it, but short of doing a long survey of works, I could recommend some like Neptune's Brood, The Foundation Trilogy, Rule 34, Cryptonomicon, or even Dune if you do a careful reading.

mark monday Do likes count as communication?

eh, not really. although I do appreciate them of course!

the main reason I put that in my friend request question is because I don't like having too many goodreads friends so from time to time I go on a friend deleting spree. I always keep the friends I recognize (unless they are inactive or have somehow annoyed me). so to stay my friend, I have to recognize you, and one of the ways to do that is to become a real person to me by occasionally communicating with me. however the other way to do that is by regularly writing reviews that I enjoy. you definitely have the latter covered!

Robert Thanks for accepting my friend request, Brad.
