As a writer, speaker, and entrepreneur, Jurgen Appelo helps organizations survive and thrive in the 21st century. He shares stories, games, tools, and practices, so you can create your own way of working as an innovative network organization. Most importantly, he offers the unFIX model for organization design, continuous innovation, and a better human experience.

Jurgen calls himself a creative networker. But sometimes he’s a writer, speaker, entrepreneur, facilitator, designer, manager, blogger, reader, dreamer, runner, freethinker, or … Dutch guy. Inc.com has called him a Top 50 Leadership Expert and a Top 100 Leadership Speaker.

We only offer the pieces (patterns) for modeling, but the modeling should be done by people in the organization. We cannot do that for them. Like LEGO offers 4,000 different types of LEGO blocks, but *you* are the one who should use (some of) those blocks to make something unique in your context. That's not LEGO's job; that's your job. And you're not supposed to use all 4,000 types. You only use what you need. Of course, like LEGO, we can inspire people with some (simple) examples of the things you could be building. That's what case studies are for. #unfix (less)

We believe this is hard as long as all the good patterns are spread out across different methods and frameworks. It is difficult to do a bit of Scrum, a bit of Team Topologies, a bit of ShapeUp, a bit of the Spotify Model, and so on. The visuals and terminology are all different across those various models. By offering a shared language of reusable patterns, we hope it becomes easier for people to create context-specific methods so that they don't have to start by "implementing" and then adapting off-the-shelf scaling frameworks.(less)

The Scientific Method in Product Innovation

Author: Jurgen Appelo

Anyone who has delved into innovative product development is familiar with the five-step Design Thinking process by IDEO and Lean Startup’s Build-Measure-Learn loop. However, the model that aligns most closely with the scientific method could be the Innovation Vortex.
