With the warmer months coming up just around the corner (BST begins this weekend, baby!), Adidas has unwrapped the all-new Adidas Samba OG ‘Cardboard.’ Since the ‘40s, this model has been made from leather. Lots of it, in fact. But when the temperatures begin to rise, this probably isn't the best material to wear. That's why this brand new colourway just makes perfect sense. It's easier, lighter and really versatile – and it should've dropped much, much sooner.

Adidas Samba OG ‘Cardboard’

Dipped in ‘Cardboard,’ one of the first things that you'll notice about this Samba is that the classic construction has been totally reworked from the ground up. The upper is now completely decked out in mesh, which has been specifically designed for better ventilation. This breathable fabric features along the lateral and medial sidewalls, but the German sportswear company has retained the traditional leather stripes in ‘Chalk White,’ as well as the T-shaped suede panelling that's overlaid across the front of the sneaker.

Clearly, a lot has changed here compared to the OG pair. But rather than sitting on top of a “normal” rubber midsole like most Sambas, this easy-breezy version brings back the old school gum rubber unit that was introduced way back when – and it's those old schoolers that keep on coming back.

We're only three months into 2024, and it's already shaping up to be one of the greatest years for the retro silhouette. From special editions that are made in Italy to exclusive collabs crafted in Germany, the Samba hype is still very much alive and very much kicking.

The Adidas Samba OG ‘Cardboard’ is available now at Adidas, the Confirmed app, and select stockists around the globe for £90 a pop. Even more colourways are expected to be revealed soon.
