On the court, a changing of the guard. Carlos Alcaraz, still just 21, dismantled an out-of-sorts Novak Djokovic who is now reaching the twilight of a GOAT career. Up in the stands, the exact opposite result was playing out: Pierce Brosnan, never looking better at 71, putting the younger pups at sport's unofficial front row to shame.
During the last day of The Championships, Brosnan and his impeccable head of silver showed up in a navy double-breasted suit. But this wasn't just any ol' navy double-breasted suit. This was the Kent from Ralph Lauren's ultra-elite Purple Label line. Hand-tailored in Italy, it's a two-piece made in a lightweight linen, silk and wool composition that's meant to be super soft and super lightweight.
Razor-sharp lapels featured across the front, and while most blazers have side pockets, this one also had a classic ticket pocket along the right-hand side – slick, old school, but hella cool, just like the man himself.
The GoldenEye star finished things off with some perfectly-polished leather Oxfords (also by Ralph Lauren, FYI). But what really had fashion guys gassed up were all of his banging accessories. Up top, he rocked the Jacques Marie Mage Dealan sunglasses in the ‘Cameo’ colourways that's limited to just 350 pieces globally (!). On his wrist, a GOAT watch: the Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945. “I was in New York doing Laws of Attraction with Julianne Moore,” he told GQ in a 2022 interview. “I bought it. I came out of the store, my knees were shaking [due to] how much money I just dropped.”
So kids, if you're really struggling to find your own personal aesthetic and you just can't seem to pull off leopard print coats and Tabi shoes, get Pierce Brosnan on your moodboard ASAP. Because no matter what era we're living in, a classic suit will always work.
