When it comes to furniture shopping, we’re all a bit spoilt for choice with the number of brands and furniture stores that have now tapped into the interiors world. Whatever you’re after, whether it be vintage furniture, more affordable budget pieces, bedding, mattresses or all of the above, there’s everything from high-end boutiques to fashion brands and designer stores that have now started producing their own pieces. But if we were to focus on just one, it would often be Soho Home.
Stocked in one of the best stores around, Soho Home furniture tends to be our go-to for elevated, contemporary pieces that are both effortlessly on trend, but also the kind of designs that will last for years to come. Think of these as those investment pieces that you’ll be framing your home around, whether it’s a statement bed frame that determines how your bedroom works and looks, an armchair to bring your living room to life, or a dining room table that centrepieces your dinner parties.
If you know anything about the brand, you’ll know Soho Home comes as part of Soho House, which if anything, is known for its ultra-chic interiors. All of the pieces at Soho Home take inspiration from the Soho House outposts around the world, which not only gives you a nice background story to tell your guests about whenever they should ask (trust us, they will), but means you can trust that your interiors are well worthy of display. Expect a vast, design-led, and top-quality offering across the best furniture, lighting, dinnerware, accessories, home fragrance and textiles.
Which Soho Home picks are the best?
With a variety of differently sized compartments to its shelves, the Marin shelving unit is a great example of how to break up shelf space effectively to display a “mixed-media” collection of items, from coffee table books to sculptures to homeware. It’s beautiful in American oak, and retains a light look despite its capacious size.
This curvy club chair takes its design cue from the sumptuous interiors at Soho House, 76 Dean Street. Upholstered in a plush velvet, with deep and low seating, it strikes the perfect balance between comfort and support. While it offers a timeless quality, there’s a hint of mid-century style, too.
One of the most sculptural floor lamps we’ve come across, the Lea is shaped from milky white glass held aloft by two brass rods, all balanced on a base of black, veined marble. It’s inspired by the interiors of Soho House Rome; we can certainly see where the sprezzatura comes from.
You can find all of our top picks from Soho Home below, but if you're just after a quickfire guide, look no further…
- Best furniture for storage: Marin shelving unit, £3,595
- Best statement club chair: Henri armchair, £995
- Best lighting find: Lea floor lamp, £1,195
- Best accessories: Barwell cut crystal champagne coupes, £185 for four
Why shop at Soho Home?
There’s little we don’t want from this site, which speaks to the brand’s clear design aesthetic. Soho Home was launched in 2016, born out of a response to guests asking where they can buy their favourite pieces as seen in the various Houses. This of course means that you’re getting an expertly curated selection of interior picks from Soho House’s top designers and buyers.
Is Soho Home membership worth it?
If you’re going to splash out on larger furniture pieces, or if you cannot resist returning to the site for your latest accessory fix, then joining Soho Friends is well worth the annual £100 fee. With this you get a noticeable 15 per cent off full-priced products, free UK delivery on most buys (with the exception of some larger and third-party items), exclusive previews of what’s to come, as well as early access to, and 20 per cent off, sale items. There’s also special member access to the Houses around the world with member rates on dining and spa treatments to enjoy.
If you plan on buying furniture that costs £666.66 or more you will immediately make back your money in savings on the purchase. And, given the quality of Soho Home products, we reckon it’s pretty likely you’ll hit that threshold.
Does Soho Home offer an interior design service?
Yes, Soho Home Design is the interior design arm of the company, which offers a comprehensive service for those inclined to leave the creative stuff to the experts. You know you’re in safe hands with their experienced interior design team, who’ll work closely with you to deliver your dream scheme, tailored to your individual taste, space, and budget.
