Jack Grealish suffers embarrassing moment celebrating Man City's win

The Premier League fixtures for the 2024/25 campaign have been released this morning ahead of the new season, which begins on the weekend of 17 August.

Manchester City will start the new season as champions once more after clinching their fourth successive title and they open up with a mouthwatering clash against Chelsea and new manager Enzo Maresca. Meanwhile, Arsenal, who finished second under Mikel Arteta, face a home clash with Wolves.

Elsewhere, Erik ten Hag has kept his job at Manchester United but must now show dramatic improvement on their eighth-place finish and they kick off the new campaign on Friday 16 August by welcoming Fulham to Old Trafford, while Arne Slot begins the daunting task of following Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool by travelling to newly-promoted Ipswich.

Maresca’s departure for Chelsea has left Leicester searching for a replacement after winning promotion and they begin their Premier League adventure by facing Tottenham on Monday evening, 19 August.

Premier League fixtures 2024/25: Every first round game as Chelsea handed brutal start

The Premier League is back for the 2024/25 season with Manchester City defending their title and Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton back in the top flight after securing promotion.

Arsenal look to go one better after an impressive title challenge last season under Mikel Arteta. Erik ten Hag remains in charge of Manchester United after upsetting rivals City in the FA Cup final and surviving an intense end-of-season review.

But there will be five new managers, including Arne Slot, who steps in to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. Enzo Maresca begins life in charge of Chelsea, replacing Mauricio Pochettino at Stamford Bridge after guiding the Foxes up from the Championship.

New season, new managers

There’s going to be quite a lot of change to the Premier League this year. Jurgen Klopp’s departure means Liverpool have a new boss in Arne Slot which is one of five top-flight changes in terms of managers.

Chelsea’s replaced Mauricio Pochettino with Enzo Maresca while Julen Lopetegui takes over at West Ham to host Aston Villa on the opening weekend.

The Premier League’s youngest permanent manager Fabian Hurzeler takes charge of Brighton against Everton and Leicester, who lost Maresca to Chelsea, are yet to appoint a manager.

Ipswich’s Kieran McKenna manages for the first time in the Premier League as does Southampton boss Russell Martin.

France provide Kylian Mbappe injury update after suffering broken nose at Euro 2024

France captain Kylian Mbappe does not require surgery and will play with a mask at Euro 2024 to protect his “broken nose” after being left covered in blood in his side’s 1-0 win over Austria.

The victory was overshadowed by Mbappe’s worrying facial injury in the closing stages of the match in Dusseldorf. The Real Madrid superstar, who was booked after re-entering the pitch following treatment, was pictured leaving the stadium in an ambulance after the game.

France have detailed the diagnosis for Mbappe and the next steps before Les Bleus face Netherlands in Leipzig on Friday.

Ipswich come full circle

Ipswich Town are back in the Premier League for the first time since 2002 when they were relegated. They’ve been on a journey since then, dropping into League One and fighting to get back to the top-flight.

22 years ago their last game as a Premier League club was a 5-0 defeat at Liverpool on 11th May. Kieran McKenna’s side will play the Reds in their first game of the 2024-25 season at Portman Road.

Talk about coming full circle.
