Worton Park Monarch Butterfly WaystationWorton Park Butterfly Station

Worton, MD., May 19, 2023 – Kent County Grounds Maintenance joined forces with students and faculty from Kent County High School to create a 400-square-foot 'Way Station' garden in Worton Park, a haven for Monarch Butterfly migration. Our Grounds Maintenance Staff prepared the area and supplied mulch, while KCHS students and faculty planted host and nectar plants within this designated sanctuary in the park.  This green initiative was made possible through the generous support of ShoreRivers and the University of Kansas, who provided funding for the project. We're proud to share that the 'Way Station' garden is now under the care of KCHS students, ensuring its long-term growth and sustainability.
