Assistive Technologies Center (ATC)

Purpose of Space

The center provides technologies to facilitate library research and alternate format access to library materials for users with a variety of vision, hearing, and/or mobility-related disabilities. The ATC is available whenever D. H. Hill. Jr Library is open (Hill Library hours).

Accessible Textbooks

In conjunction with the Libraries' possessing at least one copy of every required textbook for all Fall and Spring semester courses, we work in conjunction with the Disabilities Resources Office (DRO) to provide accessible versions of these textbooks. Accessible Prints and Page Scans

Outside of available Wolfprint capabilities, The Libraries offer a Braille printer in our ATC. Upon request, library staff can convert instructor-provided scans into text-searchable PDFs. All electronic reserves items scanned by library staff are converted into text-searchable PDFs for use with screen-reading software.

Accessibility Devices

The Libraries provides different assistive devices to help patrons complete a range of tasks within facilities. These devices include items like a braille embosser and scanners. Our devices pages have applicable devices tagged to facilitate easy identification.

Accessibility Software

The Libraries provides different softwares to help with the accessibility of our resources. These softwares include screen reading and text magnification software. Our software pages have applicable software tagged as such. 

Targeted Accessibility Guides (for staff) 

These publicly viewable content creation guides are written for staff responsible for Libraries’ resources or services delivered in-person or online.
