Great quote in this BBC article from our co-founder Brian F. on the precedent of this monumental case around the role of executives in content moderation within communication apps. As a trust and safety platform this is a topic we continue to monitor closely: https://lnkd.in/ezu3GbXF

🎶 This week’s Cinder playlist comes from our very own Head of Product, James Friedman. James is a devoted father, husband, musician, and Florida man, who offers only dubious answers when asked if he owns any tigers. 😮 Like his home state, this playlist is reminiscent of a relaxing, pretty sunset. Enjoy the nostalgic and low key good vibes from these tunes! https://lnkd.in/eYCvz37F

📍Our team of ex-CIA officers and experts on North Korea is no stranger to clandestine practices and subversive tactics from foreign governments. It’s one of the inspirations for us building a trust and safety platform to begin with. That being said, we didn’t expect to find foreign adversaries in our own applicant pool. 🤯 Nevertheless, we got to work. Here’s our story on what we are doing to combat suspected North Korean nationals applying to Cinder, from Declan Cummings: https://lnkd.in/g6sgQYV4

It’s been a week since #TrustCon and the Cinder crew are still fired up from the experience. Another epic TrustCon in the books! First, huge congrats and thanks to Charlotte Willner and Trust & Safety Professional Association. You did it again! We heard 1500+ people in attendance?? We can’t wait for TrustCon 2025! Next, a big thank-you to Chris Price from Patreon for taking over the Cinder plenary on Wednesday. Great slides, relatable content, and a great case study in building a Trust & Safety program—we couldn’t ask for a better partnership. Likewise, a big thank-you to Tina Wu and Sam Freeman for their outstanding presentations. We’re incredibly fortunate to have professionals like you on our side at Cinder! You set the bar high. Finally, to everyone who joined us for dinner, came by the Happy Hour (OK, so sorry about the waitlist… we promise that won’t happen again), stopped by the booth, registered for the Croc raffle (more on that soon!), or just took some stickers or a stress-block—THANK YOU! If you attended #TrustCon2024 we’d love to hear from you. What were some of your favorite highlights and takeaways?

Are slow queries dragging down your app? Introducing a new open source tool built by our team to supercharge database queries. If your app runs on Django, N+1 queries might be the cause. That's why we've created django-zeal, a Python package used extensively at Cinder, now publicly available to all. Learn more about django-zeal and grab the Python package for yourself on our blog: https://lnkd.in/d-QPS9Z9 #OpenSource #TrustAndSafety
