The Colorado Pay It Forward Fund recently partnered with The Master's Apprentice Program to offer zero-interest living expense loans to Coloradans training for in-demand careers in the trades. Thank you Natalie Kerr and Colorado Community Media for shining a spotlight on our partners and their incredible work: https://lnkd.in/gyM48sf2 “The American dream is for everyone. It’s equal opportunity, but sometimes equal opportunity has to be surrounded with the right kind of support so it becomes more equal, and becomes more accessible," says Luis Villarreal, The Master's Apprentice co-founder, in the piece. #PayItForward #TradesTraining #Apprenticeships

At Social Finance, we work to increase access to job training programs that help workers upskill. Check out Arthur’s Story to see how a training program kickstarted his IT career: Arthur knew he wanted to take the next step to advance his career. He tried college, but it wasn’t the right fit. He wanted to serve in the army, but was ineligible due to his eyesight. He liked the idea of a short-term training program, but he wasn’t ready to take the financial risk of leaving his job and paying for tuition. After learning about Merit America on Tik Tok, Arthur enrolled in their 14-week IT Support program, financing his training with a zero-percent-interest loan through the Google Career Certificates Fund. After completing the program, Arthur was hired by pharmaceutical manufacturer Merck. Back in 2020 we put out a series of issue briefs on #payforsuccess, with support from @RWJF. Earlier this month we reissued them with new insights from the project work we’ve pursued with #government, #philanthropy, and the #privatesector over the last four years. The seventh brief in the series, which I cowrote with some former and current @SocialFinance team members, including @Thomas Coen and @Jake Segal, centers on pricing #outcomes. Here, we share some strategies for operationalizing what is really the crux of Pay for Success: linking dollars to demonstrated #performance. Read on to learn how we approach identifying, measuring, and valuing outcomes! https://lnkd.in/gcNNZeHH

At Social Finance, we’ve learned a lot about outcomes-based #contracting in the dozen or so years since we first launched #payforsuccess tools in the U.S. We’re excited to share our learnings in “Pay for Success Contracting,” the eighth brief in a series of 10 updated issue briefs meant to help #government, #philanthropy, and the #privatesector link funding to results to better serve people and communities. Here, we lay out the basics of contracting for outcomes, including how to incorporate outcomes-based elements into existing agreements. Thanks to RWJF for supporting the creation of this resource, and to my coauthor Ivy Brewer, MPA, MBA, JD! https://lnkd.in/gZhjGHCq

"The Social Finance Institute . . . is talking about a set of ways to solve problems. Many policymakers and others in the field aren’t aware of impact-first investing. They’re not aware of talent finance models to achieve a greater impact for workforce training to help people get better jobs." In our latest resource, Social Finance Institute Head of Policy David Socolow and Managing Director Karen Anderson talk about their vision for the Institute and the Institute's forthcoming work.
