Content Writer || Personal Development enthusiast. I amplify your brand's message through heartfelt, persuasive words that resonate deeply to elevate your online presence.
Life is a journey. On that journey, few people are bound to show up. How they affect your quality of life is largely dependent on you. They can either build up or break you down. My journey is no different from an ordinary event told extraordinarily. During my service year, I was posted to a seed processing company. I was so happy because of the experience I was about to relieve. Much to my dismay, the head agronomist had just been fired the day before and I was to step into his shoe. Mind you, I was a fresh graduate looking for a mentor to learn from and here I was appointed to lead everyone I met there. My boss was so hard on me, demanding I work from dawn to dusk. I wasn't even paid for the appointment. I learned on the job, read, and did quality research. And when the situation goes beyond what I could handle, Mr Dickson became my to go person. I remember calling him one and wailing on the phone. He said to me, "Take it as your preparation phase" There's more to come. If you can't handle this, who would commit greater responsibilities to your hands? One day, representatives from National Seed Council (NASC) came for an inspection and my boss said the most wonderful thing about me. He said, "She is very resourceful and nothing can take her unaware". She's that competent. His statement took me by surprise. He never commended my work or see anything good in what I do before that day. In my mind, I believe he must hate me so much. We were about 13 corp members in that company at that time and I was the only one who had to do overtime like an actual staff. That was my preparation phase and it build resilience in me. But in the end, my success story wouldn't have been complete without that experience. Don't be in too of a hurry and run away from your place of growth. The price might be too costly. #mondaymotivation #storytelling Day1 #7dayswritingchallenge #14dayscontentcreationbootcampwithtab

Senior Technology Manager @ Google | ex-Bloomberg | Data, UX, & Strategy | dbschatz.com | Views My Own
Awesome to attend 10 year #CornellReunion last weekend! (And visit the Ithaca waterfalls and bagel shop I’ve missed.) Plus, it was very introspective - after a decade in the real world. Some top of mind reflections : • My perception on many folks' careers after a decade: 0-5 years out from college: folks do what they *think* makes them happy (often, money + prestige, via established career paths). 5-10 years out: folks start doing what actually makes them happy (and aligns with more specific interests). This varies of course. •Andrew Ross Sorkin '99 spoke. Biggest takeaway: sharing his life-hack quote from the 2015 movie 'Bridge of Spies'. Tom Hanks asks a captured spy: "aren't you worried?" to which the spy responds, "would it help?" It's a great mantra to channel mental energy only on productive things. • Cornell (uniquely) offers a winemaking major.... and it was awesome to check out the updated teaching winery. My wine production class, and concepts like vineyard irrigation, have stuck with me a decade later. [Cue some lesson about life satisfaction + exploring creative pursuits.] • About that University Swim Test. I passed the spot students take a 75 yard aquatic test to graduate. Since 1905, faculty agreed: "if you're going to get a Cornell diploma you've got to know how to swim — a critical life skill". Unconventional, maybe. But sometimes top-down leadership can be refreshing. Sort of a “just eat your vegetables” type vibe. • Looking back - The things I didn't love in college were more helpful than the things I loved. Example: Working in DC at the Treasury for a semester was fun, but I wasn't enamored with theoretical macroeconomic policy. I'm grateful college gave me the chance to test drive different paths.

Celebrating Confidence and Career Pathways with Melinda Davis and Triple M! Our very own Mel recently had the incredible opportunity to chat with Triple M about our transformative program with AMPC Australian Meat Processor Corporation and NSW TAFE. It's all about connecting women and non-binary individuals to maintenance trades, and let me tell you, it's been an inspiring journey! 🚀 Confidence Skyrocketing: The most rewarding part? Seeing the confidence of our program participants soar! Witnessing their growth from day one to now is nothing short of amazing. They're not just learning skills but building self-belief and realising their potential. 🤝 Career Pathways Unveiled: Many of our participants never imagined a career in trades was within reach. Now, they're not just seeing it as an opportunity but as a pathway where they can truly thrive. It's about opening doors and breaking barriers. 💪 Empowerment in Action: This program isn't just about skills training; it's a testament to what happens when you provide the right support and opportunities. We're not just changing careers; we're changing lives. 🙌 Thank You, Triple M: A huge shoutout to Triple M for highlighting this incredible journey. Conversations like these help spread the word and inspire more women and non-binary folks to explore the trades. Let's keep pushing forward, breaking stereotypes, and building a more inclusive industry. Together, we're making a difference, one trade at a time! #tradeswomen #confidencebuilding #careerpathways

Supporting university leaders to grow enrolment numbers so they can reinvest in the student experience. Keynote speaker.
What is the cost of a bloated course portfolio? In the Times newspaper this weekend I was drawn to an article about the new CEO in charge of revitalising the PG Tips brand. She described her time spent at Mars and how her analysis of their portfolio led to some tough decisions - which paid off. In the university world we cling on to course titles even though we know they are lacking any sort of ‘wow’ factor. Ultimately there is an opportunity cost to this approach. The whole institution can suffer. There are others that feel that universities must offer a breadth and depth of subjects, regardless of market forces. What do you think? #studentrecruitment #higheredmarketing #courseportfolio

Questions I get commonly asked: - How do we pass our skills and knowledge to the next generation? - How can we succession plan? - How can we develop the skills we need for the future? Well the simple answer is time! Spending time talking to your Early Careers teams can be the most powerful thing you do. At Müller we have invested in reverse mentoring and development days made possible by the commitment of senior leaders giving their time to pass on their knowledge and experience. Yesterday our engineering apprentices got to spend the afternoon and evening with our Müller Milk & Ingredients board team. Apprentices were inspired by career journeys, skills they can develop for the future and tools to develop their network and for the board valuable insight from the next generation. #skills #succession

I guess this sells the concept that a portfolio review should be an always on concept in an HE organisation with a solid product management framework - I came from a product management background in FS, which allowed me to develop and deliver impactful portfolio management strategies to deliver financial sustainability for the companies I worked for - always incremental always on mantra is helpful as it allows us to see trends and model the viability of our offerings

FOLCS ✨ We had our first in-person gathering back in June 🤩 . I wrote a post for FoodCorps describing what it was like to be in such an incredible space. Here is a quick quote from the blog: "Food is more than fuel to the body, and that applies to school food as well. Food is culture, food is connection, and food is identity. Working towards free meals for all is one part of the puzzle." You can read the full post here 🥕 https://bit.ly/3LkQViT
