Final Year Biochemistry Student| Program Coordinator| 2x TEDx Organizer I I talk about navigating the world of work, personal branding, sustainability, event management and every other thing that tickles my fancy
A while ago, I read a thought-provoking post by Michael Miebach, CEO of Mastercard, that really stuck with me. He wrote about giving a quick talk to interns at Mastercard, where he charged them to think of their careers like a brick wall. I find the analogy powerful because it emphasizes how every experience, even the little ones, plays a role in shaping our life's path, just like adding bricks to a wall, one layer at a time. Not just our careers. It's a great reminder to appreciate every part of our journey and understand that each small step, no matter how insignificant it may seem, contributes to building something meaningful and lasting. P.S: I changed my title headline. Did you notice? S/O to Jade Walters for the inspo! #olufolakezion #studentsoflinkedin #students #earlycareers

Starting as a young intern, I've had strong feelings about the goodwill and re-invigoration a company earns from shutting down at year's end far outweighing what a balance sheet that only looks at numbers would tell you. Frankly, when you're young and inexperienced you run out of things to do, and when you're senior your work depends so much on connecting to and working with others that you run out of steam on anything productive really fast. But if you need more convincing, here's some more from another source. "Christmas is coming fast, and a week after that is New Year's Day. Should you close up your office for the week in between? Or stay open so workaholics and those with tight deadlines can get things done, and those with no family nearby have a place to go? Not many questions in business have simple answers, but this one does. Unless there's some specific reason your business can't close Christmas week, it should. Here's why:" https://buff.ly/3GMCdP1
