Cedar Hill School Visit Like all teaching and leadership roles in modern day public education systems, the role of Superintendent has transformed beyond providing leadership, developing policy, and managing facilities, and the day-to-day operations, to one of ensuring that our students academically, socially and emotionally ready their futures, not our past. Learning, leading, and governing alongside Boards of Education, while also engaging with and alongside respective communities, has become commonplace within the Superintendency. As CEO/Superintendent of Gwinnett County Public Schools, our country’s 11th largest school district, that also resides in the 5th most diverse county in the nation, I am keenly aware of the importance of visiting our school classrooms, and extracurricular program offerings to observe, listen to, and learn from our outstanding Teachers, Students, Principals, Assistant Principals, Paraprofessionals, Counselors, Coaches, Custodians, and Cafeteria Staff, on both a regular, and unannounced basis. My sole purpose in visiting our schools is to develop relationships, to continue looking at, listening to, and learning about the successes and satisfying stories, as well as the opportunities and obstacles that may prevent us from achieving our goals sooner rather than later. Conducting school visits is undoubtedly one of the most important aspects of my leadership journey! #Look #Listen #Learn #CollaborativeLeadership #ConnectAndEngage #HereWeGo #AndHereWeGrow #TeamGCPS #gcpYES #CedarHillElementary

Transform your organization with our Fractional Human Resources Leadership, igniting employee engagement and bolstering retention
Nikolai Vitti, the leader of the Detroit Public Schools Community District, included a succession plan as one of his goals for his next four years in office. This plan demonstrates his openness and respect toward a smooth transition that would ensure the success of the business; the school district of Detroit. Nowadays, employees tend to switch roles frequently, which is why the transparency and willingness to prioritize succession planning is something that other leaders should emulate. #successionplanning #education #talent #transition #transparency

Check out my latest interview on Road Trip Nation!
Dr. James Lane was recently interviewed by RoadtripNation about his 'road through life', including his roles as teacher, principal, superintendent, and now as CEO of PDK International. "The advice I'd give anyone who wants to get into leadership is to build relationships with a lot of friends. Leadership is collaborative and we need to work together to create the greatest impact. Networking and building relationships are also great ways to open up doors to opportunity." https://lnkd.in/eVSrKtK6

“Relationships!! Admin with faculty staff…. Everyone with students and their families.” — Rebecca M. “Administration who treats their teachers as the professionals they are and doesn’t micromanage.” — @Lal1286 “Leadership that works with their staff, respect for time and enough support staff to actually support students and teachers.” — @AymeeTiffany These are just some of the candid responses that Education Week received after posing the question: What do teachers think makes a school culture great? As you would expect, some interesting themes emerged: A reliance on relationships. 👭 Principals setting the tone. 🎵 Teachers having autonomy and enjoying trust. 🫶 Respectful collaboration. 💬 Read some of the insightful things teachers had to say about building a positive school culture. https://buff.ly/3Sj8vYL And here are some great tips from Principal David Arencibia, who has built up a school culture so enticing that staff members have been known to forgo big raises and shorter commutes to stay at Colleyville. https://buff.ly/3Sargxy #teachers
