Are you finding it challenging to meet your program's target enrollment goals? 🔥 🔥 🔥 As someone who has been in your shoes, I understand the pressure and importance of hitting those numbers. When I first stepped into a managerial role, one of my primary responsibilities was to recruit participants and meet funders' expectations. I vividly recall my former boss advising me to "hit the streets," emphasizing the need for proactive outreach. 💪 However, I quickly learned that it's not just about hitting the pavement—it's about creating a well-thought-out outreach plan. As Benjamin Franklin wisely said, "By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail." This quote has resonated with me throughout my career, and I often share it with my senior leaders and management students. It underscores the importance of planning and strategy in achieving success. Let's clarify the difference between community outreach and an outreach plan: 🎯 Community Outreach: This involves providing program information and services to individuals in your service area, including reaching out to hard-to-reach community members. 🎯 Outreach Plan: An outreach plan is a strategic and actionable work plan designed to implement outreach strategies effectively. The goal is to engage stakeholders and spread your message to recruit program participants efficiently. I've seen firsthand the impact of implementing a structured outreach plan. For instance, when I worked for an organization awarded a Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) contract, we faced challenges with meeting target enrollment. By implementing a comprehensive outreach plan, we were able to address these issues and significantly improve participant recruitment by 90%. ⏭ Currently, I'm offering training sessions for program managers on effective outreach and recruitment strategies. If you're struggling to meet your target enrollment and would like to learn more about my cost-effective Outreach and Recruitment Strategies workshop, I invite you to schedule a meeting. ➡ https://lnkd.in/gSvXi-kg Together, we can develop a tailored approach to boost your program's enrollment and achieve your target goals. Let's turn your recruitment challenges into success stories! I

Leadership Strategist | Executive Coach | Keynote Speaker | Researcher | First-Generation Professional
"Why the focus on First-Generation Professionals (FGPs)," you ask? So many reasons: It's what I know. I'm the first member of my family born in the United States and was among the first to navigate college, graduate school, and enter the white-collar world. I did this largely on my own – until guardian angels in the form of mentors and colleagues popped up in my life and showed me the way. The descriptor of "first-generation" often is attached to college students. It's a huge accomplishment to achieve admission to college when no one in your family has set that precedent for you. However, it felt like an incomplete story. I began to wonder about these students' collegiate experiences and how those translate into workplace performance. After a little digging, the wheels started turning, then spun faster… After months of phase-one research, we at Baem Leadership believe identifying and investing in FGPs offers a win-win proposition for FGPs and the companies that employ them. Hint: If you're a hiring manager, chances are good you have lots of FGPs in your ranks already. You just don't name them as such – and they likely don't recognize themselves as such, either. If you're ready to tap into the unique talents of FGPs, this is a great place to start: https://lnkd.in/eDnBZ4T8 #firstgenerationprofessionals #careerdevelopment #hiring #recruiting

In the next few weeks, I have some exciting news to share. I'll be offering some insights until the right time starting right now! Everything we do in life begins with a Strong Foundation. Construction is done in phases. A variety of sources indicate the first phase is called Preconstruction. Planning the concept and design, and getting necessary permits! Once that is Completed, we start the actual construction, which begins with a foundation. How long will something last? Often it is dependent on the foundation upon which it rests! There remain today, the Pyramids of Egypt, built before the coming of Christ, still remain. In England there are Castles, and great structures. The Pantheon is the oldest building in the world that's still in use today. Since the 7th century, it has been a Roman Catholic Church. The Fairbanks House, located in Dedham, Massachusetts. It was built around 1637, making it one of the oldest timber-frame houses in the country. In my hometown we have existing buildings built before the revolution! There are many examples of existing structures that have lasted for many years! It's not just buildings that need a foundation. Consider, our education system. Beginning in Elementary school, we build our knowledge base until we graduate. Middle School, High School, College, all help us to develop a personal foundation! Organizations When we consider foundations for an organization, we are describing people. People who serve at different levels of the hierarchy within the organization. Like a building, for an organization to last, a strong foundation is necessary. One thing is common in all of these lasting structures, each these structures- a Strong Foundation! In organizations, be they businesses, Higher Education, Health care, and more. A staggering 79% of employees will quit after receiving inadequate appreciation from their managers. 69% of Millennials are concerned that their workplace does not develop their leadership skills. The number of women on boards of directors is only 15%. In business, 83% of companies say developing leaders is crucial. Look for more information in the coming weeks. Its important to have that strong foundation.

Last week I had the pleasure of co-presenting with Shea K. and Lisa Leiter to the Atlanta Metro RESA group about a workforce development initiative I helped architect in my hometown of Atlanta. The MPOWER program is a shining example of inclusive employment in action anchored in a collaborative local ecosystem of resources. One of the goals of the presentation was to help the districts in attendance recognize the simple nature of this extremely effective model. The (not so) secret ingredients are: 1. A school district who wants to try new ideas - Marietta City Schools is the district that hosts the MPOWER program. 2. Innovative Leadership - Visionary leaders like Grant Rivera and his team, including Michele Sayles Harris and Lisa Leiter, who create space for programs like MPOWER to flourish. 3. Business Partners - Engaged business partners like Apto Solutions, committed to building an inclusive workforce. 4. Students - Motivated students eager to bridge the gap between school and meaningful vocational opportunities. 5. Invested Community - A deeply invested community – both geographically and in the program's success – like Atlanta and Marietta. Inspired by MPOWER's model? Let's connect! I'd love to share insights and explore how you can replicate this success in your district. The future of inclusive workforce development looks bright! #inclusiveemployment #workforcedevelopment #education #communitycollaboration

Why Traditional Leadership Fails Communities – And What You Can Do About It. Things are changing quickly, and our approach to community development must evolve. Picture this: a community struggling with outdated infrastructure, lack of resources, and disheartened residents. Traditional top-down leadership steps in, offering solutions from a high perch, often missing the mark. The result? Solutions that may look good on paper but fail to resonate with the people they’re meant to help. Now, imagine a different scenario. A diverse group of local leaders, residents, and stakeholders gather around a table. Ideas are shared, voices are heard, and solutions are co-created. This is the power of collaborative leadership. It's about rolling up our sleeves, diving into the heart of the community, and working side by side with those who know their needs best. When we embrace collaborative leadership, we build trust, foster genuine relationships, and create sustainable solutions that truly make a difference. It’s not just about listening; it’s about empowering individuals to take the lead in their own community’s future. And that’s where real, impactful change begins. Let's champion a new era of community development—one that values every voice and turns challenges into opportunities through the strength of collaboration. Ready to see how you can make a real impact? Continue the conversation with Ji-Hyun Lee ⭐ Question 3. What specific resources or initiatives would you recommend to young professionals to feel more supported and empowered within the statistics community? 💡 Dr. Lee: To feel more supported and empowered within the statistics community, I highly recommend that young professionals engage with statistical professional organizations. Volunteering with these organizations is a particularly effective way to get started. By actively participating in volunteer work, young members can connect with peers, find mentors, and expand their network. Professional organizations heavily rely on volunteers to operate, and by actively taking ownership of your volunteer work, you can empower yourself within the community while discovering numerous opportunities for involvement. ⭐Question 4: What advice do you have for other women and minorities who aspire to leadership roles in STEM fields? 💡 Dr. Lee: My advice is rooted in the belief that leadership is about working for the betterment of others. If you're passionate about making a positive impact and have a clear vision, leadership can be a way to make the vision a reality. Don't limit yourself by thinking that leadership is only for someone else. You can be a leader, too, and your passion and vision can bring positive change to the field. ⭐Question 5: What does success mean to you? 💡 Dr. Lee: Success, to me, means being part of a solution for a better world. It's when I can see that the solution I've contributed to has become tangible. In my everyday work on scientific projects, if I contribute to addressing a scientific question, challenge, or discovery, that's my definition of success. Additionally, when my mentees find their own paths in life and careers, that's another measure of success for me.
