This is my Walmart story, marking my 2.5-year milestone. I joined Walmart as a part-time associate in 2017, shortly after immigrating to Canada. Hailing from a small town with limited job opportunities, getting a position at Walmart was a stroke of luck amidst uncertainty. My journey has been one of profound growth and transformation. Over the years, amidst life's ups and downs, in 2021, I found myself drawn back to Walmart, where I embarked on a career journey filled with diverse experiences and invaluable lessons. From the front end to Omni, fresh to general merchandise, fashion to core grocery, I've traversed nearly every department, gaining a comprehensive understanding of Walmart's retail environment. Beyond the confines of a typical store, I've embraced unique challenges such as driving the forklift to move freights or empty containers—a task that both fascinated and enriched my skill set. Grateful for the opportunity presented to me the day I applied to Walmart, I've encountered many great people and learned from them (both knowledge and mindset), fostering a sense of belonging within the Walmart community. As I continue along this path, I remain committed to learning and growing, both personally and professionally. Each day brings new opportunities for development, and I eagerly embrace them with gratitude and determination. Last March, I was humbly nominated for “Shining Star of the Month”—just a small achievement that I've gained. But I consider this experience one of the greatest milestones in my career journey because it signifies that my dedication is heard and seen. As someone once said, “JOBs can be TAUGHT. SKILLS can be TAUGHT. EXPERIENCE comes from OPPORTUNITY. Start giving people an OPPORTUNITY to learn the SKILLS to gain EXPERIENCE to do the JOB." It’s Associates Week at Walmart! This is the most energized time of the year where we celebrate the incredible work our associates do to make our company so successful. I’m super excited about this morning's announcement on our latest associate investments – especially our new hourly store associate bonus. Full and part-time hourly store associates and store-based health and wellness associates with at least one year with the company, are now eligible for an annual bonus. This is a great way for them to be rewarded for their hard work and longevity with the company. It’s also just 1 of the 4 new investments we announced today. We’re also: ➡ Adding a new Total Pay and Benefits feature to our consumer-grade super-app – Me@Walmart – that gives associates quick and easy visibility to their pay, discounts, learning opportunities, and benefits… all in the palm of their hands. ➡ Launching an Associate to Technician Pipeline Program to create pathways for our own associates to fill critical jobs as skilled trade workers in our stores and supply chain facilities. ➡ Doubling our existing certificates in Live Better U – our Walmart-paid education program – to fast-track front-line associates into approximately 100,000 jobs that are higher-paying and in-demand for our business over the next three years. These are just the latest of some critical associate investments we’ve been making over the past few years. What did I learn from my job? Though I have worked at Walmart for 3 Months. The job is great and sometimes fun with amazing people. Though these months I've experienced a lot of new skills, as, learning to socialize more, counting money, using cash registers, and more about how employees work together. This is helpful for me as it's beneficial to my future career. My manager and Team Leads are nice and are always helpful when I or other employees need help. I'm sure they are appreciated by all our hard work we put into our job. What is my goals? Lastly, what can I do to go above and beyond? I mainly have 2 goals. One of which is to hopefully learn more about the customer center as I think it's an interesting job. The second one is to get better memory to figure out why a thing isn't working on a register. A random one is to try out another position at Walmart. Lastly,I want to go above and beyond by doing my work and being hard-working throughout my time while I work at Walmart. #georgiawblworks #cherokeewbl

Woohoo Walmart! We made Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work for List, and what I'm most proud of are the details of why. In essence, our people make the difference.   This isn't just a tagline, it is the truth. As the article states, with the size of Walmart it can be hard to have a consistently positive work environment. So how did we make the list and have over 70% of associates say it is it a great workplace?   We did it through our frontline associates caring about customers and each other, our frontline managers being servant leaders, using our scale to do the right thing as far as skills and career opportunities, and focusing on serving our associates, customers, and community. #TeamWalmart Side Note: I LOVE the picture the article uses because Associate to Driver is still one of my favorite programs we offer!

Walmart is leading the way by increasing compensation for their superstore managers, offering larger bonuses and stock awards, potentially totaling over $400,000 annually for top performers. Store managers oversee sizable teams and revenue streams, often advancing without college degrees. With the added responsibility of managing e-commerce orders, the role has become more complex. Walmart is addressing concerns about turnover by recruiting and training college graduates for managerial roles and increasing pay and bonus incentives. The new compensation structure includes automatic stock grants, with supercenter managers receiving higher grants compared to those at smaller-format stores.

I read this post and it's incredibly impressive that 75% of Walmart's U.S. salaried store, club, and supply-chain management started their careers in hourly positions. This speaks volumes about the company's commitment to promoting from within and providing meaningful opportunities for career growth and advancement. The fact that so many of Walmart's top leaders began as hourly associates demonstrates the company's strong culture of cultivating talent from the ground up. This not only creates a sense of loyalty and ownership among employees, but also ensures that Walmart's leadership deeply understands the day-to-day experiences and challenges faced by frontline workers. By offering clear pathways for advancement, comprehensive training and development programs, and competitive compensation and benefits, Walmart is setting a high bar for other retailers. This commitment to investing in and promoting its own talent is a testament to the company's values and its belief that the best way to build a successful business is by empowering and elevating its workforce. Overall, the statistic that 75% of Walmart's management started as hourly associates is a remarkable achievement that highlights the company's dedication to providing meaningful career opportunities and fostering a culture of internal growth and advancement. We've significantly raised our wages over the years, with the average store manager salary now at $128,000.
