A significant shift in housing preferences is evident, with 68% of Gen Z adults and 20% of Millennials choosing to live in multigenerational households, as highlighted in RentCafe's report. This trend underscores the profound impact of economic, social, and familial factors on housing choices, reshaping the traditional notion of independent living in contemporary America. For commercial real estate, understanding the dynamics behind the rise in multigenerational living is essential for anticipating future housing demands and adapting development strategies to accommodate changing family structures.

Last week in my newsie I chatted about the 🏚️ housing market. I started this newsie to give women factual and easy-to-understand talking points for some of today's hottest topics in health, economics, politics, etc. I am a believer that informed opinions create meaningful conversions. As a woman, I always shied away from these conversations because I didn't have time to read 50 articles on every topic and I feared saying something incorrect. I realized a lot of women felt that way. I sat down to write this one after having a conversation with a friend about building generational wealth. Real estate isn't the only way but it always seems to come up in this conversation. Then it always seems to roll into the "who is at fault for the disaster that is America's housing market" topic. So, I was searching for an answer to: How did the housing market become so... shall we say "unhinged"? In this newsie you'll find a ⏱️ 1 minute ⏱️ read on: ➡️ The rising rent-to-income ratio ➡️ The seemingly never-ending housing inventory issue ➡️ The role of institutional investors ➡️ The aftermath of the pandemic's ultra-low interest rates ➡️ Solutions other countries have used to solve their housing market crisis ➡️ and reasons you may not even want to buy a home in today's market (and how it isn't the only way for millennials to build generational wealth) *These are designed for people who want to to increase their conversational knowledge of headlines, not to be an economics textbook* You can still read last week's newsie here: https://lnkd.in/gnwhmJ4h #thehousingmarket #headlinestoday #millennials

My latest Forbes article diving into the hustle of Millennials and Gen Z. Looking past the stereotype that they're lazy; they are simply redefining the grind. They're about purpose and well-being, not just clocking hours for a paycheck. They're digital wizards growing up with the tools that my generation has been forced to learn, leveraging tech to get more done in less time. As entrepreneurs, we've got a lot to learn from these generations just like the generations of the past. Check it out!
There’s much to be gained from talking with younger generations. Read more: https://hubs.li/Q023GZ5Q0 Post written by Ryan Crownholm, Forbes Councils Member.

TRANSFER INBOUND Knight Frank's Annual Wealth Report delivered by Liam Bailey, their global head of research, is a publication we at Modern Affluence always eagerly await and this year's report drops on the 6th of March. You can download the 2023 report and get in-line for the publication of 2024 by visiting their site. This year Knight Frank has trailed a few highlights and followers of Modern Affluence and attendees to our annual summits will not be surprised at the underlying theme - the enormous generational transfer of wealth ($90 trillion in the US alone between the 'silent generation' and 'baby boomers' to 'millennials'). That transfer will make affluent millennials the richest generation in history. A theme covered in our 2023 Modern Affluence Exchange Summit with VGC Partners The Future Laboratory No surprise that wealth will be deployed to live more sustainably - greener homes, more environmentally friendly purchasing, and more balanced investment decisions. We couldn't agree more with Liam's view that this transfer will have a 'profound impact on how our society runs' and that 'the implications for investment managers and financial advisers, or for anyone else working with these new cohorts that will become wealthier, will be quite significant'. In the meantime, check out a sneak peak of some of the outtakes here: https://lnkd.in/eDJrmftb

For Millennials and Gen Z'ers, it's no secret housing has become less attainable in light of low housing stock and rising costs. MSHDA programs and strategic goals in the Statewide Housing Plan are working to shift the tide and make housing accessible to more Michiganders. Millennials stand on the brink of a significant wealth transfer, set to inherit $90 trillion over the next two decades. However, this windfall may deepen wealth inequality, favoring those born into affluent families. Amid evolving attitudes towards property ownership and investment, the rise of first-generation wealth creation and diverse entrepreneurial opportunities signal seismic shifts in wealth dynamics. Meanwhile, the ultra-wealthy, buoyed by improving economic conditions, continue to favor property investments, with North America leading the surge in super-wealth creation. https://lnkd.in/grgyTmDt

We're not sure we'd call these tribes - they don't really describe communities or systems of shared values. These acronyms do, however, describe a diverse set of socioeconomic conditions and experiences. These ideas are also useful in a broader cultural sense, capturing the nature of individuals' lived experiences in ways that are lost in traditional measures of economic well-being. "It's difficult to pinpoint just how many Americans fall into each category — they're generally not officially tracked. But the terms' recent popularity suggests people want to understand how they fit into the broader economy beyond standard measurements." If your organization is struggling to understand how shifting economic and cultural dynamics are impacting consumers, reach out. We would love to have a conversation with you. - Hierophant #marketresearch #consumerbehavior #economy #culture https://lnkd.in/ewMimbwJ
