Jessica Dominguez, a proud Latina podcaster and advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community, has always proudly supported organ donation. Little did she know that she would end up being the recipient of a life-altering gift! After struggling with severe breathing difficulties due to a deviated septum, Jessica's daily life was marked by headaches, exhaustion, and limited activities. Thanks to the gift of donated cartilage, she underwent a rhinoplasty which improved her breathing by over ninety percent! These days, she is able to fully immerse herself in life once again, engaging in activities like running and podcasting. Jessica believes that her donor hero’s legacy continues through their generosity. Thank you to for MTF Biologics sharing Jessica’s powerful story.

It's Giving Tuesday, and I know that means everyone with a cause is asking for your attention -- and your donations-- today. As you consider where to give, I hope you'll consider DLG4 Research Fund Here are just a few reasons why: 1. We have done more work in one year with our small board than most non profits accomplish in 5 years. Plus our board is matching every single donation through the end of the year. 2 Because our funding pool is small, we MUST be efficient and strategic. We don't waste time or money. 100% of the proceeds go towards research. There are no overhead costs. 3. Our gene therapy work is moving forward as quickly as possible, thanks to Alysson R. Muotri, PhD 4. The challenges our children our facing are monumental. We need an army as strong and brave as they are to tackle DLG4 Synaptopathy. We've made great strides, but we need your continued commitment to keep moving hope forward. By making a donation today, YOU can contribute to improving the lives of those affected by DLG4 Synaptopathy. Every $1 helps and if you are unable to donate, even sharing this post will help reach us a bigger audience. Thank you for helping us make a difference for these kids.
As we embrace the festive spirit and count all of our blessings, we humbly implore you to consider donating to a cause that is ver close to our heart. In there trying times, we acknowledge the multitude of noble organizations vying for your year-end contributions. Our plea stems from the urgency and uniqueness of our mission. This nonprofit is exceptionally small, with limited funding sources, and those affected by DLG4 Synaptopathy receive little to no support due to its rarity. With the cost of genetic treatments soaring, your support can make an extraordinary difference. Please help us change lives, provide hope, and drive scientific progress. Your donation this holiday season can propel us toward finding a cure and illuminating the lives of these 151 individuals and counting touched by this rare disease. As a bonus our board will be matching every single donation that is made through the end of this month. That is doubling your impact. Thank you!

It's National Donor Day! This day raises awareness of the live-saving benefits of five different types of donation – Organs, Tissues, Marrow, Platelets, and Blood, especially for our littlest warriors. Valentine’s Day, and every day for that matter, is the perfect day to share the love by committing to saving and healing lives through donation. You can make an impact by registering as a donor at Donate Life America or spreading awareness by sharing this post! The more awareness of the need for the five different types of donation, the greater the impact on our pediatric warriors who need it to survive.

Are you an organ donor? As a registered donor, I encourage everyone to at least start the conversation, do your research, ask questions and get informed. Registering is quick and easy through #donatelife
DonateLife week starts today and we're asking our community to share the important message of saving someone's life by donating organs. Signing up to be an organ donor is something our Red Socks Run Ambassadors @StephenCurry and @michalabanas are particularly passionate about. They even wrote a little diddy about it. ⏳ Kidneys are *by far* the organ with the longest wait list. With roughly 1,000 people waiting for a kidney transplant at any one time, and an average wait time of 2.1 years, your donation can make a significant impact. For more info on becoming an organ donor, head to https://lnkd.in/g2XTdaK3.

The latest episode of Light in the D!
In the latest episode of Light in the D, I engage in a conversation with my friend and brother in Christ, Gary Abud, who was diagnosed with Keratoconus at age 10 - an eye disease that affects the structure of the cornea. Gary candidly shares how this disease shaped his life up to his early 20s, including his journey through college, and how a life-changing organ donation granted him sight after years of severely blurred eyesight. We delve into the profound impact this experience had on his faith and the touching story of the donor's mother, whose son's corneas gave Gary the gift of sight. We also touch on and address the controversies around organ donation. #organdonors #organtransplant #faith #healing #eyedisease https://lnkd.in/gfQa2JuG

Engaging & Interactive Speaker | Career Consultant | CAPPA Faculty & Dual-Certified Perinatal Educator | Postpartum Doula | CPLL Certified RETAIN Parental Leave Coach | HR Guide for Working Parents
Does your workplace have a lactation room for employees and/or customers? In the US there is no federal paid leave for new parents and approximately 44% of workers don't qualify for FMLA. 1 in 4 new moms return to work within 2 weeks after Childbirth more than 70% of new dads return to work within 2 weeks, and I've supported someone who returned to work less than 24 hours after their child was born I haven't seen any studies yet on nonbinary parents to share that statistic, if someone has it please share it with me. This is probably one of the biggest reasons why "World Breast Pumping day" is so important in the U.S.! if a new parent wants to feed breastmilk to their newborn but must return to work before their baby is a 1 years old, then they need to decide on breastpumping and/or formula. I personally was privileged to have 12+ weeks off, though Paid Leave Oregon didn't exist at the time so some of it was unpaid; however, I had an undersupply with my first and followed the Triple feeding method to increase my supply which included using a breastpump when my baby was 5 days old. Then an oversupply with my second, so needed to relieve the pressure with pumping within a week to avoid mastitis. Plus after returning to work, I pumped to continue feeding my babies my breastmilk in a bottle for as long as possible, and donated some extra to other newborns when I could. Thankfully as of 2010, it is illegal to have an employee pump in the bathroom, they must have another designated private space and "reasonable time" to pump, so I was thankfully privileged to have a private lactation space (aka an unused office), but sometimes I traveled and saw the lack of accessibility to lactation rooms in airports, conference centers, etc. and I supported others who were told to pump in their storage closet next to a dirty mop which was illegal. Thankfully it is a little better now compared to 7 years ago, but we still have much to improve! This isn't the typical post for LinkedIn; however, it is absolutely important to normalize workplaces to be better informed about how to support and accommodate parents with newborns whether they are your employee or customer. #breastpumping #breastfeeding #breastmilk. #parenthood #motherhood #mothers #babies #maternal #maternallove #maternalcare #shareyourstory #wecanpump (This post is original and typed by Rosa Park Neves, no AI was used)
