Don't have any travel plans abroad this summer? No worries. The US has been named the world's hottest tourist destination by the Travel & Tourism Development Index published recently by the World Economic Forum. "While obvious reasons for this accolade exist, such as its diverse landscapes, natural beauty and cultural richness, the US also boasts a well-developed infrastructure supporting the travel and tourism sector," says Anna Abelson, an adjunct instructor at New York University's SPS Tisch Center of Hospitality. The US has never been known for its subtlety or for doing things on a small scale, and when it comes to its tourism offerings, this formula has proven to be a strength. "When the USA latches onto a trend, it doesn't stop until it's saturated. Witness wine, craft beer and coffee, or museums, concerts, and activities for children in cities," said Tim Leffel, author of the book and online resources The World's Cheapest Destinations. "We don't stop until we've passed everyone else in quality or variety." Find out why else the US tops the list: https://hubs.li/Q02CwFvR0 #TravelUSA #ExploreAmerica #NoFOMO #USTourism2024 #TravelGoals #roadtrip #ExploreTheUS 🇺🇸

To sustain the tourism sector’s long-term positive growth prospects, the government and tourist service providers need to attract new generations of travelers. “Younger generations are leading the charge when it comes to a shift in consumer spending habits surrounding … travel,” Paula Twidale, senior vice president of AAA Travel, a travel agency, said in April in a blog. “Gen Z and millennial travelers are taking their trips to the next level by going farther and spending more than other generations.” Continue reading: https://lnkd.in/dX-t2UVf #tourism #GenZ #Egypt

Tourism Research Australia estimates the total value of domestic travel by people with accessibility needs and people who travelled with them was $6.8 billion. This represents 21% of total domestic tourism spend in that quarter. A new national framework is helping tourism businesses become more accessible and inclusive. Developed by Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), The WELCOME Framework brings together important aspects for tourism operators to consider in making their products, services and experiences more accessible by understanding the needs of people with disabilities and long-term health conditions. The Framework covers: W - Welcome E - Environment L - Links C - Communication O - Operations M - Marketing E - Experience Making products or services more accessible opens new and valuable markets for tourism businesses. 👉 Check out this article! Forbes interviewed Lonely Planet Executive Editor Nitya Chambers about #responsibletourism. Responsible tourism requires thoughtful research and knowing what questions to ask early in your planning. Host communities bear the majority of the burdens of tourism, but often receive minimal benefits. "Good tourism" is tourism that is good for everyone - visitors and locals alike. "Across the globe, one in 10 people work in tourism and, on average, their jobs don’t meet the basic requirements of fair pay and safe working conditions. By asking questions – for example, if guides, drivers and hotel staff are paid a healthy living wage and work in safe conditions – to local providers, it can help turn the tide." #tourism #fairwages #communitydevelopment #sustainabletourism #sustainabletravel #hospitalityindustry #tourismindustry #slowtravel #communitybasedtourism

"A transformative trend to explore beyond well-trodden tourism areas and attractions in major urban destinations is gaining momentum, fueled by travelers of all generations who are seeking more experiences that are true to local culture. The trend, which has been referred to as ‘life-seeing’ versus sightseeing, is documented in key research studies, including a 2023 report by booking.com that found 75% of survey participants said they want, “authentic experiences that are representative of the local culture.” Really cool to see that "life-seeing" is gaining traction as people plan their trips and vacations! We specialize in these kinds of itineraries, so if you're interested in a trip where you live like a local and support small businesses - contact us to help us plan your trip! https://lnkd.in/eXksHiMf #sustainabletourism #localtourism #slowtravel #lifeseeing #authentictravel
