He studied jazz in Miami, then began traveling, collecting melodies and rhythms that make for a genuine world class fusion of Colombian rhythms. After studying jazz in Miami, he began traveling, collecting melodies and rhythms that make for a genuine world class fusion of Colombian rhythms. Kiko’s debut album, La Remolacha was released in March of 2015 on Peligrosa Records. It is a beautiful collage of Latin American and Caribbean rhythms . It’s element is Earth. The sophomore release Aguas Frías (also on Peligrosa 2017), transports you to the Colombian Andes and Caribbean with traditional Afro-Colombian drums and the Indigenous Colombian “gaita” flutes meshed with a full psychedelically electric 8 piece band. The element of that album is of course, Water. With his latest album Todo El Mundo, Kiko carries the traditions of his ancestors but moves forward more into the future. With a minimalist and transformative approach, the element of this album is Wind!

Under The Rock presents Deer Fellow & Caroline Hale

Deer Fellow is a massive talent, a unique indie pop/folk duo with “comforting yet bold musicality.” Austin-based bandmates Matt Salois (guitar, vocals) and Alyssa Kelly (violin, vocals, keys) have built a cross-genre sound that “stirs hearts with each carefully crafted note.” Their lyrics are deep, meaningful, yet catchy and relatable. As cited in East Side, “Their genres range from contemporary indie-rock, to jazz, soul, and American standards, but the resulting mélange makes sense once the sound hits the ears.” This unique duo is without question – set to “Go Far and Under.”

Caroline Hale is an Austin-based singer/songwriter and recent graduate of the University of Texas! While moving from the 40 acres to the spotlight at a young age, she is off to a scorching fast start - building a loyal following and playing some of the most well-known venues in town (and beyond). Her songs range from thought-provoking and poetic (e.g., “We Both Do”) to crowd thumping dance songs (e.g., “Frankly Speaking (I’m done)). One for introspection and connecting her experience (and others) to her music, Caroline is set for a meaningful ride “Down Under” - The Rock.

Under The Rock is an innovative new series showcasing acoustic performances from top-level local artists. Facilitated by Dr. Aaron Rochlen, a Professor, Psychologist, & connected music guy, each concert features lyrical discussions and ideas for how audience member can learn, reflect, and relate from the listening experience. An award-winning presenter, “Doc Rock” frequently uses music in his courses & clinical work.

Under The Rock presents Jaimee Harris

Jaimee Harris began cultivating Boomerang Town in 2016, a time of great loss for many in the Americana community, with the songwriter losing several musicians close to her. A shift in the nation’s political landscape had ushered in a new level of cultural polarization and for someone who grew up in a small town outside of Waco, Texas, Harris believed the values instilled by her parents were not entirely in line with how many were viewing, and vilifying, Christians. As a person in recovery, Harris has had to re-evaluate her own connection to faith and find strength in a higher power. It was from the intersection of these social, personal, and political currents that the album was born. While themes of addiction and grief permeate sections of the record, it echoes hope in the face of the darkness. Boomerang Town understands that love and grief are two sides of the same coin. These deep and meaningful themes combined with her extreme musical talent set up for a powerful Under The Rock episode - not to be missed.

KhushFest 2024: Austin Color Festival

Khush Soxiety aims to create memories for music enthusiasts of all ages at our first annual Austin Color Festival on Sunday, March 24th at Republic Square. Khush means happy in Hindi.

We’ve curated a show featuring some of the best American Desi DJs to make you fall in love with music all over again. Wanna hear top chart English and Spanish songs laced with Bollywood music? We’ve got you.

Our festival is a color celebration similar to Holi welcoming Greater Austin with love, equality, inclusivity, and community. On this day, positivity wins. We’re all equal in spite of our differences and this festival is the epitome of inclusivity and love. When it’s over, we’ll all truly look the same. Let’s get dirty in the most beautiful way!!

Each ticket come with 2 FREE bags of colored powder!!

KhushFest is also welcoming several small businesses and local Austin farmer’s markets vendors to serve our guests and we have pledged to donate a portion of our sales to more than a handful of non-profit and relief organizations such as the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, and the Central Texas Food Bank. See you there!!

Culture. Community. Charity. Celebrate life. #BeKhush

Under The Rock presents Inside The Exiles

Under The Rock is an innovative new series showcasing acoustic performances from top-level local artists. Facilitated by Aaron Rochlen, a Professor, Psychologist, & self-proclaimed “strangely connected music guy,” each concert features a though provoking discussion of the lyrics & song origins. An award-winning presenter, “Doc Rock” frequently uses music in his courses & clinical work.

The West Texas Exiles are one of the hottest bands in the ATX. Recent performances include SXSW, AmericanaFest, Hardly Strictly Festival, & various iconic Austin venues (e.g., Continental Club, Saxon, Antones). Musical influences include the Flatlanders, Buddy Holly, Vampire Weekend, & Jason Isbell. With intriguing storylines from each band member, a look “Inside the Exiles” provides an ideal & introspective start for this creative program.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit HAAM.
