Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of these limitations may not apply to you.

Your privacy and security is the N.C. Department of Transportation's highest priority. NCDOT is consistently working to keep the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles' Online Services one of most secure websites on the Internet.

Here are just a few measures NCDOT is taking to help protect your personal information:

  • Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software encrypts all your personal information, including credit card number, name and address, so that it cannot be read as the information travels over the internet.
  • None of your credit card information is stored in any way by NCDMV.

​Card Processing Fees

Card processing fees vary depending on where the transaction occurs. NCDMV charges the following: 

  • In office - 1.22​ percent
  • Online - 1.85 percent
  • Kiosk - 2 percent ​​
