The LSU men's basketball team has known since late April that it will play in the inaugural Greenbrier Tip-Off multiteam event this fall.

Now, they have a first-round opponent. On Thursday, the Tigers learned they'll go against the Pitt Panthers in the four-team event on Nov. 22 at the famed Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.

The matchup with Pitt is set for a 1:30 p.m. tipoff, with Wisconsin and Central Florida meeting at 4 p.m. TV information for both games will be announced later this summer.

The winners will meet in the championship game at 4 p.m. Nov. 24 with the losers from the first game playing in the third-place contest at 1:30 p.m. that day.

The addition of Pitt to the schedule means the Tigers will play three Atlantic Coast Conference teams this season.

Matt McMahon's team will also host Florida State in the ACC/SEC Challenge on Dec. 3 and meet ACC newcomer SMU at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, on Dec. 14.

This will be the fifth all-time meeting between LSU and Pitt, which finished 22-11 overall and 12-8 in the ACC last season.

The teams split the four matchups with the last coming during Pete Maravich's junior season on Jan. 31, 1969. The Tigers won 120-79 in the LSU Ag Center as Maravich went for 40 points against the Panthers.

LSU is 0-4 all-time against Wisconsin with the last meeting coming in the 2000 NCAA tournament's Sweet 16, but the Tigers have never played UCF in men's basketball.

LSU has 10 of its 13 nonconference games set.

In addition to the two games at The Greenbrier, the Tigers will take on UL-Monroe (Nov. 6), Northwestern State (Nov. 29), Florida State (Dec. 3), Florida Gulf Coast (Dec. 8), SMU (Dec. 14), UNO (Dec. 22) and Mississippi Valley State (Dec. 29).

Also, LSU will meet Kansas State in Manhattan, Kansas, on a date still to be determined. That game will complete the home-and-home series the teams started in December in Baton Rouge.
