Ms. Gonzalez-Jimenez, the daughter of Dominican immigrant parents, grew up in Washington Heights and became the first member of her family to serve in the United States Military.

Upon her retirement from the U.S. Navy Reserve, Ms. Gonzalez-Jimenez moved to the Northwest Bronx, where she became a devoted leader in her community. She served as a member of Community Board 5 for many years. During her tenure, she worked closely with the James Peters Veterans’ Medical Center (JPMC), and her local representatives, to provide her military brothers and sisters the dedication, support, and attention they deserve. Due to Ms. Gonzalez-Jimenez’s efforts, the JPMC Vaccine Bus was secured two days a week to provide veterans, their spouses, families, and caregivers, with direct vaccine care and enrollment in the VA system.
