As we experience a changing climate, we will see an increases in extreme heat-related illnesses,deteriorated outdoor air quality, increased flooding, an increase in vector-borne diseases, and increased water and flood-related infections. Many of these impacts will be borne by our most vulnerable populations: children, seniors, and our low-income residents.
INFRASTRUCTURE
A damaged climate threatens the well-being San Antonio residents and the essential infrastructure we depend on. Essential infrastructure systems such as water, energy supply, and transportation will
increasingly be compromised by interrelated climate change impacts.
WORLD HERITAGE SITES
San Antonio is home to the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Texas, the San Antonio Missions. How will extreme heat, precipitation, and flooding impact this important cultural and economic resource?

San Antonio.
ECONOMIC COMPETITIVENESS
As the frequency of extreme weather events increases, whether that’s flooding, drought, or hail storms, the San Antonio economy will be impacted by property losses, increased insurance rates, and potential
impacts on credit ratings.
The SA Tomorrow Sustainability Plan also provides a foundation for developing a plan to reduce San Antonio’s contribution to greenhouse gas emissions that damage our climate, as well as improves our resilience as we prepare for the current and projected local impacts.
