A. The maintenance procedures that follow are for the removal and installation of the
auxiliary power unit (APU) fuel−filter element.

A. Open and remove the access doors as follows:

EQUIPMENT.
A. Remove the APU fuel−filter element as follows:
(1) Put the container below the APU fuel−filter element to collect fuel leakage.
(2) Loosen, but do not remove, the bolts that hold the cover (1).
(3) Turn the cover (1) a small distance to disengage it from the bolts.
(4) Remove the cover (1) and the fuel filter element (3), then drain the unwanted fuel
into the container. Discard the preformed packing (2) from the cover (1).
(5) Remove and discard the fuel filter element (3) and the preformed packing (4).

A. Make sure that the aircraft is in the same configuration as in the removal task.
3. Procedure

A. Install the APU fuel−filter element as follows:
(1) Make sure that there is no contamination in the cover (1).
(2) Lubricate the preformed packing (4) with fuel used in the system. Install the
packing (4) in the groove in the fuel filter element (3).
(3) Lubricate the preformed packing (2) with fuel used in the system. Install the
packing (2) on the cover (1).
(4) Put the fuel−filter element assemblies (3) and (4) in the cover (1).
(5) Install the cover (1) on the fuel control unit. Turn the cover (1) a small distance to
engage the bolts, then tighten the bolts.
(6) Remove the container and clean all fuel leakage.
