Stephen Roncone,
Chief Financial Officer

Steve Roncone is the United States Secret Service Chief Financial Officer. In this role, he is responsible for the development, execution, and stewardship of the Secret Service’s resources. Additionally, Mr. Roncone oversees a financial team that includes experts in budget, financial management, relocation, and financial systems.

Prior to joining the Secret Service, Mr. Roncone served as an Assistant Director and Chief Financial Officer with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement between 2017 and 2023.  He led more than 400 professionals across financial operations including two finance centers, asset management, audit and assurance, and budget including responsibility for $8.7 billion in appropriations.  During his time, he increased budget authority by 36% and the workforce by 8%.  Through his leadership, ICE played a prominent role in contributing to DHS’ tenth consecutive clean audit opinion on the DHS financial statements.

A veteran of the United States Coast Guard, Mr. Roncone served 22 years as an active-duty officer, including a key interagency budget role within U.S. Department of Transportation’s CFO office, where he advised senior leaders on $10 billion of critical infrastructure investments through the American Recovery Act of 2009. 

Earlier in his military career, Mr. Roncone commanded a surface ship responsible for law enforcement and rescue missions, as well as used his civil engineering and asset management background for over 10 years culminating as a base engineer at two posts where he improved major infrastructure to support front line missions.  The breadth of his experience and portfolio including rebuilding efforts in Florida after hurricanes Frances, Jeanne, Ivan, Rita, and Wilma; as well as managing the vehicle fleet valued more than $350 million, and field offices at ICE.

Mr. Roncone reached the Senior Executive Service in 2017 and was a 2019 recipient of the DHS Secretary’s Silver Medal Award for his CFO achievements.  He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and attended the University of Illinois, where his studies included a Masters of Civil Engineering and Business Administration.
