Israel's Brutal Overnight Attacks in Gaza Leave Dozens Dead Or Injured

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israeli forces launched a series of deadly attacks overnight across Gaza, resulting in numerous casualties including deaths and injuries, according to reports from Wafa news agency and on the ground sources.

In central Gaza's town of az-Zawayda, armed drones launched by Israeli forces caused one fatality and several injuries among civilians, Wafa news agency reports.

Simultaneously, drones targeted civilians in Gaza City's Zeitoun area. In Rafah city's eastern Kafr al-Mashrou, Israeli bombings killed one person and wounded several others.

Air strikes on homes in the Nuseirat refugee camp and east of Khan Younis caused additional casualties, Wafa reported.

The escalation follows reports of Israeli missiles hitting a UN-affiliated school in the Nuseirat camp, resulting in at least 17 deaths and 80 injuries among displaced people.

Israeli helicopters also engaged in missile attacks west of Rafah city, targeting civilian areas, according to reports from our correspondents.

Despite international warnings of a looming humanitarian crisis, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu authorized a ground assault on Rafah, Gaza's southernmost city, earlier in May.

Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians remain trapped amid Israeli military operations, enduring daily bombardments.

Additionally, Israeli strikes on Gaza City's al-Mansoura Street in the Shujayea neighborhood claimed three lives and injured several others, as reported by local sources.

Shujayea, previously devastated by Israeli forces, continues to suffer ongoing attacks, with significant destruction and casualties reported since the Israeli assaults intensified two weeks ago.

Israeli forces persist in bombing northern Gaza despite withdrawing troops from Shujayea last week. Earlier incidents included drone attacks on civilians in Gaza City's Zeitoun area.

In the Maghazi refugee camp, an overnight strike on a residential home resulted in the deaths of at least five Palestinians, including three children. Family members mourned as they prepared for burials.

Artillery strikes by Israeli forces targeted eastern areas of the Bureij refugee camp, Al Jazeera Arabic reported.

Reports also indicated Israeli Apache helicopters attacking northwest of az-Zahra in central Gaza.

Israel’s military said its navy and air force attacked targets throughout the Gaza Strip over the previous day, striking dozens of targets over recent days.

Naval forces supported ground operations in southern Gaza, while troops engaged Palestinian fighters in central Gaza, resulting in casualties on both sides.

Palestinian fighters in Gaza City continue to resist Israeli forces, launching rockets toward areas where Israeli troops are concentrated, according to reports from defense think tanks ISW and CTP.

Israeli forces stationed in the Netzarim Corridor faced rocket and mortar attacks from Palestinian resistance groups on Sunday, as documented by ISW/CTP.

In Rafah, southern Gaza, Israeli forces encountered multiple forms of resistance, including rockets, mortar shells, grenades, and small arms fire, ISW/CTP reported.

On Saturday, a devastating air raid on the al-Mawasi displacement camp resulted in at least 90 deaths and 300 injuries, marking one of the deadliest incidents in the ongoing Israeli genocidal war.

Palestinian human rights groups, including PCHR, Al-Haq, and Al-Mezan, documented the attack as a prolonged assault involving missiles, drones, and quadcopters.

According to reports, the attack unfolded with successive strikes, including missiles fired at a building and nearby tents, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries.

Civilian rescuers faced danger as Israeli drones targeted their efforts, resulting in casualties among emergency personnel.
