Opportunities and vacancies

We are accepting applications for the following board and committee positions:

• Surplus Lines Stamping Office of Texas Association (SLTX) Board of Directors - Applications due September 3, 2024.
  • One public member position. (To qualify, the applicant must have a minimum of three years of experience in purchasing commercial insurance.)
  • Two non-public/industry positions. 
• Texas JUA (medical liability) Board of Directors - Applications due by August 23, 2024. 
  • One public member position. 
• Texas FAIR Plan Association Governing Committee - Applications due August 23, 2024.
  • One insurer member position. (To qualify, the applicant must be a full-time employee of an insurer who is a member of the FAIR Plan Association, writing residential property coverage in Texas.)
• Texas Title Insurance Guaranty Association Board of Directors - Applications due August 30, 2024. 
  • Two public member positions. 
• Texas Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association Board of Directors - Applications due August 23, 2024.
  • One public member position. (To qualify, the applicant must not be an officer, director, or employee of an insurer, insurance agency, agent, broker, adjuster, or any other business entity regulated by TDI.)
• Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) - Applications due September 13, 2024.
  • One insurance industry position.
    • Must be representatives of the insurance industry who actively write and renew windstorm and hail insurance in the first tier coastal counties,
  • One first-tier coastal county position.
    • Must reside in one of the following first-tier coastal counties in Texas: Brazoria, Chambers, Galveston, Jefferson, Matagorda and any part of Harris county designated as a catastrophe county under TIC Section 2210.005 and
    • Must not otherwise be eligible for an insurance industry position on the board to apply. 
  • One non-seacoast territory position.
    • Must reside more than 100 miles from the Texas coastline and not otherwise eligible for an insurance industry position on the board to apply.

Application process

1. An appointment application is required for consideration of any candidate seeking appointment by the Commissioner.
2. Send completed application to Government Relations via email to [email protected].
3. Your name will then be entered into the board and committee appointment system for further review. You may be contacted for a candidate interview as a part of this review process. 
4. The background and qualifications of all applicants are reviewed with respect to the purpose, composition, and statutory requirements of the board and committee of interest.
5. Commissioner appointment letters are sent to all candidates selected for appointment.
