INVESTING SHOW: Has the shift from growth to value kicked in already and what shares could profit a changing of the guard?
There's only been one real game in town for investors over the past decade and that's growth shares.
Disruptive companies promising explosive growth have been chased higher by return-hungry investors, while bar the odd pick-up value stocks have remained largely unloved.
The vaccine rally saw an abrupt turnaround for companies beaten up by Covid, but for many that ran out of steam and growth was seen to have the upper hand again last year, albeit in a closer run contest.
However, with inflation on the loose, interest rates rising, and the coronavirus threat easing - and hopefully remaining that way - there is talk that the pendulum may have swung.
Some of the big name US growth stocks have suffered falls since late last year, but is this a changing of the guard and why is the shift in central bank thinking seen to benefit value not growth?
On this episode of the Investing Show, Simon Lambert of This is Money, and Richard Hunter of Interactive Investor discuss what may lie ahead for investors in 2022, how the year has started and the kind of companies that could benefit from value getting its day in the sun.
