What to do if Axos rips you off

See my prior review on Oct. 15, trying to get my money back from Axos on a CD that matured in August. A bank representative reached out to me by phone October 17, 2022, and by the end of the day wired the money to my local bank. It may have been the review here that did it - or the registered letters I sent to the CEO of Axos (Gregory Garrabrants) and to the COO (Raymond Matsumoto.) Their corporate address is PO Box 509127, San Diego, Ca. 92150-9727. You can also go online and complain on line to the US Consumer Financial Protection Bureau if you've ever been charged a fee to cash out a CD.

Axos mistreats and steals from customers

Axos made it impossible for me to make an electronic payment for a loan and forced me to use a paper check. Then, wanted to charge a late fee for not processing my check efficiently and promptly. When I requested a change in my payment due date to accommodate their antediluvian rules, I was told it was done - then had to argue and pester them for 2 months and complain to federal regulators to complete the process. I am paying my loan down faster than required because I cannot wait to NEVER do business with them again.

The worst bank in the world

The worst bank in the world, the site is always broken, the customer service are very lazy, give wrong information illogical answer.

Christian Vazquez is a LIAR, he said the 2500 bucks will arrive noon today , August 4, but never arrived at discover bank.

Christina from axos clearing is extremely stupid , she told me to transfer out from my recipient discover bank, which is illogical.

Very bad site, very unprofessional staff, stay away from this bank.

I cried and beg for a week just asking axos to transfer 2500 back to my discover bank.

Axos bank needs to be CLOSED forever

THIS IS THE WORST BANK EVER!!

THIS IS THE WORST BANK EVER!!
I've had to deal with the worst customer service regarding my business checking. In particular "Jose" who was so unprofessional in every manner. I've had to deal with fraudulent charges that weren't even alerted by the bank and forget about any kind of relations manager communication. DO NOT BANK WITH THIS INSTITUTION!!

Terrible Customer Service

Worst customer service ever! I will be changing banks ASAP. What other bank takes 5-7 business days to process a deposited check that is from another bank, one of the largest in the world? Mobile deposit takes longer? Okay, great, that's the only option to deposit a check. After going back and forth for a week via email I'm finally told I can request early release of funds and it can be processed within 24 hours. Why didn't anyone bother to tell me this when it would have made a difference? And no other bank ever has flat out refused to honor the name I actually use (which is part of my legal name) and put it on my debit card.

Straightforward banking..

Straightforward, no BS banking. My needs are simple and Axosbank keeps it that way. Reliably and consistently. What more could I ask for?

Ruined a great UI and replaced it with slow clunky ui and rude/slow customer service and transaction times.

I was a wise banyan user. After it was acquired by axos they ruined the great user interface, cancelled the app, merged it with their online banking which didn’t allow the functionality of the app, and quadrupled their transaction times.

Their customer service was rude and annoyed to have to talk to me about what they messed up and took months to transfer, vs the normal 3-5 days.

They are the worst

They are the worst! I have a mortgage with them and they doubled the escrow payments for taxes and insurance, based on "projected" analysis. Yes, real estate taxes will go up next year, but they will not double. When asked, they stated "it's in legal." They can't answer any questions and viewing the escrow balance on line is "not available." This is supposed to be a "digital" bank. When I called they stated that their website is slow. It's SUPPOSED to be an internet bank. Absolutely worst banking experience ever. I wish I'd never heard of them and had secured a mortgage elsewhere.

Bait and switch

Bait and switch. I immediately asked for my direct deposit to be sent here to make to 60 day bonus offer. My first deposit will be 3 days after the 60 day limit. I now scheduled some funds for the axos account so it isn't closed before the first direct deposit. But you can bet I will be spending new years days looking for a new bank.

I was in the process of opening a business account.

I was in the process of opening a business checking account. This was my first venture into business banking and turned out to be very different than personal banking. After sorting through upfront processes and submitting the application on a Friday I had some messages that required action over the weekend. I wasn't expecting anything to happen over the weekend so it was nice to here from Axos. On Monday I did need to speak with someone and I had the pleasure of speaking with William. William was an excellent communicator and fixed, while we were on the phone, some items I figured I would need to start over with or somehow get back into the system to correct. Being a Mortgage Loan Originator for 25 years I have spoken to tons of people generally speaking and the communication I had with William was awesome enough to comment positively. I was impressed and I look forward to any other experiences with Axos for as long as we do business together.

Avoid business checking

I have business and personal accounts with them but not for long. By far the worst bank and most antiquated online banking system I’ve ever experienced! Every time I have an issue it is such a hassle to resolve.

AXOS is a deeply dishonest bank that should be investigated by the federal government. My debit card was stolen and money was taken. AXOS came up with dubious explanations for why they would not uphold their federal obligation to refund my money. DO NOT trust your money with AXOS. I have lost thousands of dollars because of this poor excuse for an actual bank. I will be withdrawing my funds immediately.

THE WORST- WARNING DO NOT CREATE AN ACCOUNT AT AXOS

THE WORST. Business owners stay clear DO NOT I repeat DO NOT open an account here. Their platform is from 1994, their customer service is dismal. You can not move money around and to take money out it is painful and borderline fraudulent how hard it is. STAY FAR AWAY.

One of the worst decisions I have ever…

One of the worst decisions I have ever made to go with Axos. Even though it's an internet bank, their app is horrible. Things that are supposed to be accomplished by the app you have to call and have them do it manually. Over 1 month ago when I called for manual assistance I was told that they were aware of the problem and had made updates. Still haven't received them. There customer service reps are very courteous but don't have the tools to effectively do there jobs

The ridiculousness is astounding

When Nationwide Bank announced they would be closing and indicated that they would be transferring their banking customers accounts to Axos Bank. I immediately closed all of my accounts with them and took my business elsewhere. Somehow Axos still managed to open an account in my name with a balance of .01 cent. Yes thats right! One stupid penny. Now at least 6 years later. After never having any contact from them at all. I have received a letter indicating that they are going to charge me $5 for paper statements unless I sign up for their online banking for electronic statements. Really? I never authorized you to open an account in my name. Why would you even open an account with a penny? I never even knew this account existed. I can't wait to see if they close this account for insufficient funds when they try to bill for that $5. Will they actually try to send me to collections for $4.99 too? The suspense is killing me. I would laugh but based on the reviews I've seen here. Nothing with this bank would surprise me. Close the stupid account Axos. I never asked for it, I don't want it and I'm not wasting my precious retirement time to call you over a ridiculous penny. I will not create an account with a bank I never wanted any part of. Oh that's right...based on your customer reviews calling is a total waste of time anyway.

Axos Personal vs Axos Business

I've used axos personal banking for a few years now with good experience on that end: the app is intuitive and user-freindly, but customer service is available only via chat with non-native english speakers with no authority to help you.
This week we tried to open a business checking account despite the horrendous reviews. Those reviews, we discovered, are justified. Our business is a tech start-up with $100,000 in VC funding that was just formed as a corporation. Axos refused to let us even open an account because we couldn't produce TWO YEARS of utility bills in the companies name, despite Axos specifically encouraging START-UPS to apply. I reached out through the secure messaging and also called the bank. We did have our EIN and a dozen other formal registrations in the company name and at the proper address. Axos reps flatly said that if we couldn't show two yearrs of water bills in the company name, that they could not care less about us and to go elsewhere. Many start-ups begin in coworking spaces where utilities are in the name of the coworking space. This dumb assumption shows Axos is out of touch with the businesses they claim to serve.
