On Sunday, October 31, 2004, the 29th Annual Marine Corps Marathon will take place over a 26 mile course which involves streets in Virginia and all four sectors of Washington, DC.
There will be several street closures on Capitol Grounds to ensure the safety of marathon participants. The participants of this marathon will enter Capitol Grounds at approximately 9:15 a.m. from Third Street and Constitution Avenue, NW; continue east on Constitution Avenue to Louisiana Avenue, NW; northeast on Louisiana Avenue to D Street, NW; east on D Street to First Street, NE; south on First Street, NE/SE to Independence Avenue, SE; west on Independence Ave, SE/SW. The last participant of the marathon should depart Capitol Grounds at Third Street and Independence Avenue, SW at approximately 1:00 p.m.
