2024 A Capitol Fourth Parking Restrictions
June 28, 2024

On Thursday, July 4, A Capitol Fourth -- an Independence Day concert -- will be live from the West Front of the United States Capitol. The concert will be broadcast on PBS at 8:00 p.m. EST and streaming online to honor our country’s birthday.

There is also a dress rehearsal on July 3. Both events are free and open to the public.

The Annual National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service will be held on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15. This ceremony honors law enforcement officers who were killed in the line of duty.

The number of United States Capitol Police (USCP) threat assessment cases climbed last year, as we head into an election year when threats typically surge.

In 2023, the USCP’s Threat Assessment Section (TAS) investigated 8,008 cases. That number includes investigations into concerning statements and direct threats.

Yesterday afternoon, United States Capitol Police (USCP) officers arrested a man who was carrying a machete and a knife on the East Front of the U.S. Capitol.

"This is another example of the vigilance and strong intuition of our USCP officers," said U.S. Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger. "I am proud of our cops who routinely work to keep everyone around the U.S Capitol safe."

Last night approximately 200 people gathered in front of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters to protest the conflict in the Middle East.

We have handled hundreds of peaceful protests, but last night's group was not peaceful. The crowd failed to obey our lawful orders to move back from the DNC, where Members of Congress were in the building.
