Motivation

In case other IDs exist, this proposal refers to the matriculation number (Matrikelnummer in German) found in the archive in Estonia, example: Wilhelm Ostwald (Q12658) → 9105 https://www.ra.ee/dgs/_purl.php?shc=EAA.402.7.133:173

For quality control:

1. several items have educated at Tartu University, while in fact the person studied at Imperial University of Dorpat (Q28024477)
2. some have a claim studied at Imperial University of Dorpat (Q28024477) - but cannot be found in the student register
3. since the IDs are unique, adding the same ID to multiple items will result in a constraint violation, so errors are easier to detect
4. knowledge of the ID allows faster look-up in the archive - currently no external link service, but a URL formatter could be added at any time such a service is found to exist
5. the IDs are also present in Erik-Amburger database, but there is no guarantee that they are correct, and some are wrong
6. since the IDs where assigned chronilogically, together with date of birth information plausibility checks can be performed

Of the ca. 28500 students more than 8500 already have an item in WD, I can fill the value in for these. Often found other IDs are: VIAF, ISNI, GND, EADB, Geni.

  ra.ee may need registration but why would that matter? The IDs are used in several other works, most notably:

  • Album Academicum der Kaiserlichen Universität Dorpat (Q127052492) - IDs 1 to 14331
  • Album academicum universitatis tartuensis (Q127048055) - IDs above 14331 and data for students that still studied after ~1889.

  You wrote "database (several digitalized books) is not coherent" - what is not https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/coherent#Adjective ?

  @Kolja21: has been marked as ready at 18:01, 10 July 2024, which seems to be too early per Wikidata:Property creation #5 "over a week ago" (creation time 21:13, 3 July 2024‎), but now it is 22:11 and the week is over. If you could create ~now, I could fill ~8500 IDs this night and start checking against data in "educated at". I have already compiled a list matching Qid to student ID. I would use QS, starting with a few, then do checks. I would start with those that are in Album Academicum der Kaiserlichen Universität Dorpat (Q127052492) - IDs 1 to 14331.
