Task/s: Add wikidata site links to appropriate wiki commons category pages for listed buildings with matching ID numbers. I've identified about 1000 entities that can be updated. e.g. [1] should have a wiki commons link to [2] since they both refer to [3].
Code: Python code. I'll consider making it public after clean up.
Function details: Add site links to appropriate wikidata entities to wiki commons categories. --TimSC (talk) 12:15, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
- @TimSC: I have an existing script that does this, with bot approval per Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Bot/Pi bot 3. I run this in batches, and I haven't run it for a while, so I could do so now if that would be useful? The issue I encountered with it is that some Commons categories have rather random ID templates (and/or multiple ones) that can cause erroneous matches, which is why I don't run it too often. also, it only looks for direct matches with templates like "listed building England" in Commons categories, though - there are probably more cleverer ways of doing this using templates in file pages in the category contents. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 14:32, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
- Would be fine if you were interested in running yours instead. I noticed the multiple ID problem, it's relatively common. TimSC (talk) 17:38, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
- @TimSC: OK, running now, edits like [4]. Will report back when it's finished, it would be really interesting to see if there are cases that it's missed. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 18:32, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
- @TimSC: Run complete, it added 515 new links after checking 5480 uses of the template. Please let me know if you spot any that it's missed! Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 10:31, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
- @Mike Peel: Very nice, I see quite a few updates on pages I'm watching. Wikidata info boxes have been added by another bot as well. I noticed one page [5] which has 3 IDs on wiki commons but it's associated with a single wikidata entity. I think it's fine for now and I'll have to eventually split out the wiki commons category to get a 1-to-1 mapping with wikidata. TimSC (talk) 12:16, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

- @TimSC: Is your request still supposed to be active? Lymantria (talk) 06:26, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
- No, I guess it's no longer required.--TimSC (talk) 02:33, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
