That spokesperson quickly followed up with a text message that said they would not provide a press release.
“I have now been advised by our county attorney that a press release will not be sent due to it being an ongoing investigation with Kentucky State Police,” the message read. “Any further questions please contact our county attorney or Kentucky State Police Post 1.”
Amanda Major, the Fulton County Attorney, took a reporter's call Friday afternoon and would not verify any information, including information that has been verified through other means.
“We have no comment,” Major said. “This is an ongoing investigation and we are not going to comment at this time.”
Lieutenant Dean Patterson with the Kentucky State Police confirmed that Post 1 was looking into the circumstances of the death of K-9 Shogun, and had received notification of the dog’s death more than a week ago.
The agency is working to see who was responsible for the dog's care at the time of its death and if there was any wrongdoing, but is unable to confirm where the dog was found, who found him, or how the dog died.

Following several news tips from Local 6 viewers, we have been able to confirm Fulton County Sherriff’s Office K-9 Shogun has died.
Fulton County Judge Executive Jim Martin confirmed Friday morning that K-9 Shogun is dead and that the matter is currently under investigation.
There are no details publicly available on the circumstances of Shogun’s death.
We have reached out to the Kentucky State Police and the Fulton County Attorney’s Office, neither of which have returned our request for comment.
The Fulton County Sheriff's Office is preparing a statement, but had no additional comment at this time.
