PADUCAH — A local car show held June 8 raised $9,000, which organizers donated Wednesday in the form of a giant check to the local chapter of the Disabled American Veterans.

Organizers of the River Tin Street Rods donated the proceeds from the 47th annual car show. The show hosted 89 cars, all from 1974 or earlier, and surpassed the $6,000 raised at last year's event.

Larry D. Baker, commander of Miles Meredith Chapter 7 Disabled American Veterans, expressed gratitude at the sizable donation.

"Really it's kind of overwhelming," Baker said. "Course some of them are veterans too... But to be supported and remembered... Many of us when we came home from Vietnam, we didn't even get a thank you."

A post on River Tin Street Rods' Facebook page said the next event will be held June 7, 2025. Organizers hope to have 100 cars, all 50 years old or older, participate in next year's event.
