Jennifer’s 5-star review:
#24/2016
The veterinarians at Blue Cross, primarily Dr. Wong who's now semi-retired, and Dr. Lee have been my cats' vets for 21 years. They are exceedingly gentle and commonsensical and offer sound advice on how to keep your pet in good health - and without spending a fortune.
My last visit, however, was a very sad one: After 3 years of declining health and then two crisis episodes that were due to old age and kidney disease, I knew my dear cat Chloe had reached the end of her life.
She slept most of the time as can be expected for a cat of 17 years. Her litterbox habits changed and she drank copious amounts of water despite my infusing her twice weekly with liquids, a regimen I'd started in November when she last crashed in an alarming fashion and was brought back from the brink.
It was the seeking to hide in a tight space (a sign pets are readying to die), then a brief, almost epileptic shaking that made me run for the phone. Thank goodness Blue Cross was open on Presidents' Day.
I scheduled a euthanasia appointment in the afternoon and spent what felt was the longest day watching her, second-guessing my decision as she rallied somewhat, eating and perking up a bit.
At 5:15, I reviewed her care with the vet and the day she'd had with hopes that her 2-hour rally might spare her, for even another month or three.
Dr. Lee shook his head and said "She could go tonight or tomorrow, it will be soon."
I knew I had the make the hardest decision for my sweet girl. I could at least give her a painless and fearless death.
The strong sedative took effect so quickly. Seven minutes later a second shot was pushed IV into her leg to stop her heart and with one last breath and in 2 seconds, she was gone.
Dr. Lee was so sensitive and I felt confident before we proceeded it was the right choice.
As a pet owner, one of the most important choices you make is selecting the right veterinarian and Blue Cross is the best.
Sensible, sensitive, professional and patient, all the qualities you need to feel confident that your pet has the best care.
I've trusted Blue Cross for more than two decades with three of my cats over that time. I can't recommend vets any more highly than Drs. Wong and Lee.
Thank you, Blue Cross, for making a heartbreaking experience at least bearable.
RIP Chloe
